  • Investigate Trump for Violating the Logan Act!
Disturbing new reports surfaced allegations that Donald Trump has had private conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in order to dissuade a ceasefire agreement and influence the presidential elections. If these allegations are true, this would be a major violation of the Logan Act, which prohibits negotiations between the U.S. and a foreign government by unauthorized civilians—which Trump currently is. Sign the petition to demand the Department of Justice investigate these allegations NOW and file  charges against Trump immediately if found true!

  • Convert empty offices into affordable housing for the homeless
There are a lot of empty offices around the Portland Metro area. Remote work has replaced the need for these now empty spaces. It shouldn't take much time, money and effort to convert these empty spaces into affordable living accommodations. Especially for our growing homeless issue. Plus, new jobs would be created not only due to the conversion process of these buildings but also by adding counseling, supervisory and rehab workers to assist these homeless citizens transition to housed status. It's a win-win proposal.

  • Stop Trump profiteering and spending
Trump continues to use his position as President to profit his own businesses. His most recent hotel in DC and his newest development in the Philippines, along with his Mar-a-Lago Resort, is a prime example of how he is profiting from the Presidency. Also his expensive trips and security for Mar-a-Lago and his New York residence are abuse of our taxpayer dollars. We already have Camp David...Use it! This is not what was written in the Constitution and is a direct conflict of interest.

  • Stop attacking trans & nonbinary youth & withdraw anti-LGBTQ+ Florida DOH guidance NOW!
Dear Governor DeSantis, You've turned your back on parents and LGBTQ+ youth, again.   The Florida Department of Health has released non-binding guidance opposing science-backed health care resources for parents of transgender children. This new guidance demonizes medically-necessary care and asserts that parents do not even know best how to dress their child. So once again, your administration is trying to replace science and the safety of young people with political propaganda.

  • Pass Common Sense Gun Control & Ban Assault-Style Firearms in Nebraska
An open letter to all Nebraska Politicians. My name is Laura and I am a mother in Lincoln, NE. I am very concerned about the amount of gun violence in our country. We are the only developed nation to suffer from staggering numbers of gun deaths every year. I gave birth to my first child, Lila, in September of last year. The fear I feel for her safety is astronomical and a constant anxiety of mine. Not only that, but the guilt of bringing her into a world where children die everyday because people in our country (you) are bought by gun lobbyists weighs heavily on me. I will do everything I can to protect her and other children from these senseless acts, and it starts here. Stop taking money from the NRA. Vote for better gun laws. My family should feel free to go to work and school and to the movies without worrying that someone will shoot us on purpose or by accident. I would like you to vote for public safety and against gun extremism. I also want you to work for strong gun laws that will protect my family and me. We do not need more guns in under-trained hands, and I would like you to stand up for common sense gun law. Please, for baby Lila and all the other babies and children, do this. For the mothers with empty arms, do this. "Senators Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse have received $84,583 combined in NRA support." How many children's lives is that worth to you? 10? 20? 100? It shouldn't be worth even one. Please. PLEASE. We are begging you. The mothers and fathers are on our knees, BEGGING you to make this a safer place for our children. Have the day you deserve.

  • Remove Drew Nelson as Salida City Administrator
Andrew Nelson was arrested in January 2018 for felony menacing, domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and prohibited use of a weapon. https://www.skyhinews.com/news/winter-park-town-manager-facing-felony-charges-after-domestic-dispute/ He ultimately pleaded guilty to two counts of prohibited use of a weapon as part of a plea agreement. https://www.skyhinews.com/news/former-winter-park-town-manager-drew-nelson-pleads-guilty-as-part-of-plea-deal/ The Salida City Council chose to hire Mr. Nelson as City Administrator with this history. Many Salida citizens came to the October 16, 2018 City Council Meeting to voice their concerns. Salida City Council Meeting, October 16, 2018: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjJ5Ikprq9Y&t=2300s Based on the statements and facts presented at the City Council Meeting on October 16, 2018, as a concerned citizen of Salida, I ask you to remove Drew Nelson as city administrator.

  • Defend BadgerCare
BadgerCare is under attack again by Governor Scott Walker. Our governor has refused federal money that would have expanded BadgerCare to cover 170,000 more Wisconsin citizens. Instead, 87,000 parents of children on BadgerCare may LOSE their coverage. Additionally, Walker's plan reduces the eligibility criteria for parents with minor children, from 200% to 100% of the federal poverty level (http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/12poverty.shtml). On behalf of the 87,000 people targeted by Walker's plan, we say "Follow the lead of Republican Governors like Rick Scott, John Kasich and Chris Christie, take the money available under Obamacare and expand Badgercare for the sake of Wisconsin's working families. " In addition to 87,000 parents potentially losing their Badgercare starting January of 2014, Wisconsin may lose 10,000 new, good-paying healthcare jobs (http://citizenactionwi.org/blog/744-citizen-action-of-wisconsin-releases-new-report-today-showing-medicaid-expansion-would-bring-big-economic-gains-to-wisconsin.html) that the Badgercare expansion would have created. This is unacceptable. Governor Walker, accept the federal money to EXPAND Badgercare and do what's right for the people of Wisconsin.

  • say "NO" to IL SB-1532, The AG-GAG Bill
Back in 1906 American journalist and novelist Upton Sinclair wrote a book entitled "The Jungle". Sinclair was considered a muckraker, or journalist who exposed corruption in government and the meatpacking industry. Armies of Big Ag lobbyists are pushing for new state-level laws across the country to keep us all in the dark. Less restrictive versions have been law in some states since the 1980s, but the meat industry has ratcheted up a radical new campaign. They want to silence the Upton Sinclair's of 2013. This wave of “ag-gag” bills would criminalize whistleblowers, investigators, and journalists who expose animal welfare abuses at factory farms and slaughterhouses. Ten states considered “ag-gag” bills last year, and Iowa, Missouri, and Utah approved them. Let's not let this happen in Illinois. The problem for corporations is that when people have information, they act on it. An informed public is the biggest threat to business as usual. This bill raise questions about the protection of journalists and newsgathering; it raises serious questions about consumer safety, about animal welfare and environmental violations, and we think people need to be asking “what is it that Big Agriculture is trying to hide?”

We are the United States of America. The term United States means three things: it says that American states from New York to Florida to Alaska to Hawaii are united on a purpose; second, it means that United States are states of being sharing a common purpose; third, it also implies being united within ourselves. Therefore in my speech I will restore the original name of our country because the words have meaning, and they remind me every time I use them of our most cherished values. Thus, I take a new stand for an old idea that human beings are worthy of freedom and can create balanced and intelligent unity We are the United States says a lot because it includes the idea that our nation is comprised of people who are United States of Being—with a promise to learn how to be whole human beings within ourselves and among one another. “This is the United States….” “I am proud of the United States. “The United States does the right thing.” “The United States cares about human values around the world—and the world knows it.” “I am proud to be a citizen of the United States.”
