  • Fix overtime: Raise the overtime salary threshold to $50,440
We applaud and support the Department of Labor for proposing new protections for millions of low- and middle-income workers by increasing the overtime salary threshold from $23,660 to $50,440. If implemented, this rule change would guarantee an estimated 15 million more workers the right to receive the overtime pay they deserve. In the face of opposition from Big Business and its unlimited financial resources, please do not back down from your position. The future of the American middle class depends on bold policy decisions such as this one.

  • Petition To Reopen Township Pit
We the citizens of Rockford understand that you were pressed to close the Township Pit for various reasons. Including but not limited to verbal abuse of Township employees, dumping guidelines not being followed by area, non-residents dumping, commercial businesses dumping, and dumping illegal items. We the citizens of Rockford township are kindly requesting a set of new guidelines that could frame the future for reopening of the Township Pit area. This could be based on limited access, and for residents in agreement with clearly states guidelines, that respect the Township employees.

  • Protect Community Choice Energy in California!
We demand that the California Public Utilities Commission retract the resolution E-4907 that attacks new and existing Community Choice Energy programs. CCE programs enable communities to provide energy for homes and businesses that is cleaner and cheaper than the existing monopoly utilities. We know that the California Public Utilities Commission has been trying to slow down or stop Community Choice Energy programs across the state, and this resolution is the latest assault on the public interest. Don't let the PUC interfere with the will of the people of California.

  • Sally Jewell: Let states and cities ban fracking
The Secretary of the Interior should not be telling states and communities that banning fracking is “the wrong way to go.” There are thousands of proven instances of water and air pollution caused by fracking operations. Fracking has also been linked to increased rates of cancer and earthquakes! New York State just banned fracking after its health commissioner reviewed reams of scientific studies. Other cities have done so too across the nation. Even if you refuse to pay attention to the science, you must respect their right to do so.

  • Save the North Chicago Victim Advocacy Support Program!
The Board of Northside Community Resources in Chicago, Illinois, has decided to shut down The Victim Advocacy Support Program (VASP), effective December 31st, 2014. This program provides critical support and advocacy for victims of crime and domestic violence. The Board has not provided any justification for their decision. We demand that Northside Community Services maintain the VASP program in its current form and under its current leadership until a new home is found for it on Chicago's north side - and a realistic transition plan is developed and made public!

  • HIRING PRACTICES REFORM NEEDED
1-2 years exp needed, 2-5 years exp needed, 5-10 years exp needed. With the rate of college graduation every year, how are students supposed to gain experience when the opportunity is never presented especially in the medical field? There is a need for employers to recognize "new" degrees and specialties so that opportunities will be created. Example: an infection control (MPH) graduate is not able to secure an employee health or infection control position within a hospital because of no "RN"license even tough the degree is a specialized field.

  • Protesting Cambridge School Committee Actions and Decisions
As Cambridge residents, we respectfully protest the following Cambridge School Committee actions and decisions: 1) Approving budgets that increase Central Office administrative positions in the face of unmet student and family needs at the school level. 2) Violating School Committee policy by allowing the CPS administration to create new professional positions and contract for expensive services without explicit School Committee approval. 3) Reducing the amount of discretionary funds available to school principals. 4) Approving excessive administrative spending on outside consultants.

  • Gov. Brown: Give 43,000 More Kids a Strong Start!
Recent studies show that kids who get a high-quality early education not only do better in school, but are also more likely to go to college and get a good job. Yet, more than half of California’s kids are missing out on quality preschool, many stuck on huge waiting lists. I urge Gov. Brown to sign the Legislature’s early education budget that will create 43,000 new full-day preschool slots over the coming years and make investments to improve the quality of early learning programs.

We demand Congress establish an immediate moratorium of any downsizing of any type until a new postal reform bill has been passed. This bill should include repealing the requirement to prefund 75 years of retiree healthcare benefits in a 10 year window at $5.5 billion dollars a year.

  • Stand Up to the NRA & Guns Over People Party
It's time to tell the Guns Over People party to stop coddling the NRA. The NRA no longer represents responsible gun owners they represent gun manufacturers and sellers of death. The socal conservatives claim to be pro-life on abortion but hypocritically don't care how many lives are destroyed by gun violence. The State of New York is leading the way let it be the example to the rest of the nation on curbing gun violence. No one wants to take away responsible gun owners weapons but stop dangerous people from having deadly weapons.
