Our nation was founded on the principle of equal rights for all people. Advancements have been made with respect to equitable treatment of LGBTQ persons throughout the nation. But the ideals of our founders have yet to be realized. The City of Roseville has a diverse LGBTQ community which continues to struggle for inclusion especially in this time of extreme divisiveness. The City of Roseville has a duty to: * bring its residents together, * to support one another, * to show solidarity for all its citizens, and * to invite everyone to reflect on ways we all can live and work together, committed to mutual respect and understanding, committed to supporting dignity and equity for all people in the community. The City of Roseville can demonstrate its support for our city’s diversity and our LGBTQ community by flying the rainbow flag at City Hall during the month of June.

On April 4, 2024, No Labels announced that it would not field a presidential ticket for 2024! The public scrutiny of their nonexistent path to victory has paid off.

Ronna McDaniel, a 2020 election denier, Trump ally and former Republican National Committee chair, has just been hired by NBC to be a political commentator. Ronna McDaniel actively attempted to sabotage the 2020 election results and continues to sow doubt about the integrity of the 2020 election, claiming that the election was rigged and that mail-in voting allowed for fraudulent ballots to be cast, despite investigations proving this false. Being an election denier has literally paid off for McDaniel. Election deniers should be held accountable for their attempts to undermine our democracy, not rewarded with high-profile jobs. Upon the announcement, Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees NBC News political coverage, claimed that McDaniel would provide “an insider’s perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party.” Election deniers should not be being platformed as trustworthy sources. By now, we’ve all heard the news that George Santos was finally expelled from Congress on Friday. This is a huge victory for New York 3rd District residents, who are finally free from a lying lawmaker who cheated the system to pad his own pockets, and for everyone who values integrity and democracy in this country. And it’s no coincidence that just last Tuesday, days before Congress would vote to expel Santos, MoveOn flew a 15-foot George Santos inflatable balloon in front of the Capitol, with a tie that said “full of lies.” The goal of the balloon was to demonstrate grassroots opposition to George Santos in a key, high-stakes moment and to bring national attention to the demand for Congress to expel him immediately. And that’s exactly what happened. More than 100 media outlets mentioned MoveOn’s balloon in light of the House vote to expel George Santos. As reported by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Washingtonian, People magazine, and more, MoveOn capitalized on the spectacle around Santos to further damage his reputation and raise the stakes surrounding his expulsion. We even reached more than 50 broadcast and radio stations—from Kansas to Santos’s own backyard in New York—making it clear across the country that Santos has no place in Congress. Constituents from Santos’s district, NY-03, have been relentlessly rallying, lobbying, and advocating for Congress to hold Santos accountable for his lies and fraud. For nearly a year, they had no meaningful representation in Congress. MoveOn got involved in the fight to oust Santos early in 2023, just a few weeks after the news broke about the lies he told about his religion, education, and other personal information to get elected. In February, dozens of NY-03 MoveOn members and partners delivered this petition to his Long Island office, with 100,000 signatures demanding George Santos resign or be expelled. Thank you to everyone for signing, calling, and taking action for Santos to be expelled. We won!

BIG NEWS: DirecTV will stop carrying OAN! Bloomberg reported on January 14, 2022, that DirecTV notified OAN’s parent company that their contract will not be renewed when it expires in April, ending OAN’s primary source of income and its ability to be broadcast to millions of households. This is a major development for democracy and against OAN’s brand of white supremacist extremism. Verizon Fios still reportedly offers OAN; if you are a Verizon Fios customer, please contact Verizon (1-888-553-1533, press 0 to reach an attendant) to tell them that you expect Verizon to follow DirecTV’s lead and drop OAN from Fios.

Thanks to the 96 New Mexicans who signed our petition. We delivered the signatures to Speaker Martinez on New Mexico Outdoor Equity Day and asked to follow up with him about full funding of $8 million for the New Mexico Outdoor Equity Fund.
