Support Protections for Ukrainian Families - LET THEM STAY!

Across the United States, more than 200,000 Ukrainians, families displaced by war, are finding safety—and making a difference.

Through the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program, they arrived legally and in good faith. Today, they are living and working in communities nationwide, filling essential jobs in service industries, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and more.  They are our neighbors, coworkers, classmates, and friends.

But today, they are at risk of losing legal status and work authorization.  Without action, families welcomed may face detention or deportation and be forced to leave.  

Let them stay.

The vast majority want to go home to rebuild their country, but with constant drone and rocket attacks from Russian aggression, it is simply not yet safe.

Americans universally support legal immigration. We’re calling on leaders to keep the promise to support Ukrainians seeking safety and extend their humanitarian immigration status.

We invite individuals and organizations (American citizens only please) across the country to stand with us.

Your signature and support help advocate for policies that protect U4U families and prepare communities to welcome them.

Why is this important?

Americans believe strong communities - rural, suburban, and urban - are built on hope, compassion, and shared responsibility. My family is a private humanitarian parole sponsor of two Ukrainian families from Sumy and Zaporizhzhia, respectively and a supporter of many others including mom and her family in the above picture. Our church community has also walked alongside another family from Odessa, Ukraine, helping them find safety and stability in central North Carolina. 

Providing a form of immigration extension for these Ukrainian families empowers our communities’ ability to live out our faith in transformative ways.   Losing these individuals who work hard and pay taxes, who gladfully repair our appliances, who joyously serve in retirement centers and who proudly deliver our food would be a devastating loss for our communities.

Let’s let them stay until it’s safe to go home.

More than 360 Americans have signed the petition and the petition has been reposted more 25 times ... and we are just getting started.

Our communities and leaders are aware of Russia’s war on Ukraine, but they aren’t as aware of the desperate situation there and that it’s not safe to return yet AND the negative impact to our communities if Ukrainian refugee’s lose legal status and work authorization. It’s our responsibility to communicate.

We had a wonderful going away celebration this past week for one family who is choosing to leave North Carolina to be reunited with her husband and family and in Europe. This family has been displaced 4 times - Chechnya (1994), Donetsk (2014), Kyiv area (2022) and now indirectly North Carolina (2025).
