I want Virginia to cease taxing the retired civil servants who retired under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). Virginia does not tax Social Security. It seems like age discrimination that Virginia taxes older retired Civil Servants and not the Civil Servants who started working for the Federal Government after 1984.
Many CSRS retirees leave Virginia because other states do not discriminate against CSRS employees. Why does Virginia discriminate against us? Please consider changing this tax code, allowing CSRS retirees to enjoy the same benefits that every other retiree in Virginia is afforded.
