It has become evident to myself and many others in the United States that our elected officials are disconnected from the needs and desires of their constituents.
For a candidate to effectively improve their community, they must empathize with the challenges faced by their constituents. Too often, the influx of money in politics transforms well-intentioned candidates into proponents of issues that no longer resonate with the people they represent.
If elected officials genuinely seek progress for their districts and constituents, they must diligently work towards that goal. One effective way to achieve this would be for elected officials to live on an income that aligns with the median wage of the people they represent. This approach could potentially lead to significant positive changes in America.
