ARTIST FIRST! STOP AI FROM COPYING HUMAN VOICES

Human Voices Are Not Training Data
AI companies and policymakers must establish clear, enforceable rules that protect human voice and music from unauthorized use.

This means requiring opt-in consent before any voice or music is used to train AI systems, transparent disclosure of training data sources, and clear labeling of synthetic voices and AI-generated music. It also means treating human voice as identity-linked labor, not free data, and ensuring creators are fairly compensated when their work contributes to AI products.

These protections should be built into law, industry standards, and AI system design—so innovation can continue without exploiting the people whose voices and music make it possible.

Why is this important?

If AI can copy a human voice without consent, no one’s identity is safe. Voice is increasingly used for work, banking, healthcare, and trust. Without clear rules, AI-enabled impersonation enables fraud, identity theft, and exploitation at scale. Clear rules protect people, preserve trust in communication, and ensure AI innovation does not come at the cost of security or human dignity.
