During the development of parcel 20517125, a 15-acre parcel at the intersection of England and E. Arrowood, residents of the area strongly urge the City of Charlotte to

Sell any acres that cannot be developed from the parcel to Mecklenburg County for $1. Mecklenburg County will develop a pocket park for community use with basketball courts, soccer fields, a playground, a skate park, pickleball, and an outdoor amphitheater.

Designate a portion of the mixed-used commercial spaces for non-profits, including ourBRIDGE for Kids, Despierta and the Urban League of Central Carolinas Alternatives to Violence Program, ATV, and subsidize the rent to those groups for $1 annually. These organizations have a robust intergenerational focus and can aid in cultivating a region where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, can flourish within the 28273, 28277, 28217, and 28210 zip codes.

Why is this important?

This initiative is significant as it addresses the needs of the youth population and the high rate of violent crimes in the area, which is significantly higher than the county average. Tailored support through these non-profits ensures everyone can thrive regardless of background or circumstance.
