In HB 5007: State-administered Retirement Systems (HB 5007) add special risk class s. 121.0515(3) (c) so that it reads as:
“d. Effective July 1, 2023, a member of the Special Risk Class who is a law enforcement officer or correctional officer who meets the criteria in s. 121.0515(3) (a) and (c) and who is a DROP participant on or after July 1, 2022, may participate in DROP for up to 36 calendar months beyond the 60-month period if he or she enters DROP on or before June 30, 2028.”
The 2023 legislative session is scheduled to begin on March 07, 2023. We need to make certain that we can get enough people to sign this petition so that the Florida Congress adds the necessary language needed to amend HB 5007 so that correctional officers at both the state and county levels are included in the legislation.
Please sign this petition and forward it to any correctional officer or detention deputy you know at either the state or county level and ask them to do the same.
Why is this important?
Correctional Officers and Detention Deputies are just as deserving of this retirement benefit as are other law enforcement officers such as road patrol officers and detectives.
How it will be delivered
In person, via email, over the phone, in whatever legal way is necessary in order to accomplish our goal getting county correctional officers and detention deputies included in HB 5007: State-administered Retirement Systems.
