Save Castor Avenue!!!

As of August 1, 2024, with a history of more than seventy five years, we, the undersigned, express strong opposition to any construction project that would alter the current traffic pattern on Castor Avenue between Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue.
Why is this important?
1. Safety Record: Castor Avenue has a relatively strong safety record, as per reports from law enforcement, with fewer than six fatalities in the past five years, which is cited as evidence that the current configuration is safe.
2. Business Concerns: The majority of businesses on this commercial corridor are worried that changes to traffic lanes could negatively impact their operations.
3. Community Safety Concerns: No additional law enforcement will be employed to help manage the concern among the surrounding community in regards any changes to the
traffic patterns could lead to an aggressive and dangerous overflow of traffic into nearby neighborhoods, potentially turning them into cut-through streets.

4. Opposition to Changes: The undersigned parties strongly protest and oppose any construction that would reduce or modify the existing four traffic lanes (two southbound and two northboun).
We affirm this opposition to be based on the desire to maintain the current traffic flow and avoid potential negative impacts on safety, local businesses, and neighborhood traffic.
