To: Member of Congress Mike Lawler
Mike Lawler Took $1.7M from Elon Musk — Now He's Burning Our Future and Slashing Our Lifelines
Mike Lawler isn't fiscally responsible — he's morally bankrupt.
Lawless and bought, he isn't working for NY-17 — he's working for his billionaire donors.

He's taken:
- Over $1.7 million from Elon Musk and aligned PACs (FEC filings)
- Since 2023, over $51,000 from Big Oil, including Exxon, Chevron, and Marathon Petroleum (Food & Water Action, 2024)
- And yes — Lawler was previously a registered fossil fuel lobbyist (OpenSecrets)
Now in Congress, he's:
- Voted for legislation that slashes Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and nutrition assistance — while pushing to make Trump's billionaire tax cuts permanent (Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 2024)
- Supported H.R. 1, a bill that gave handouts to Big Oil and gutted renewable energy investment (House Roll Call Vote 182, 2023)
- Backs the fossil fuel industry's agenda while endorsing the FDA's Trump-era deregulation that weakens food safety (Brookings, 2020)
Meanwhile, teachers, nurses, and working families are paying up to 30% in taxes — while billionaires like Musk pay closer to 3% (ProPublica, 2021).
Lawler's answer? Cut what's essential. Protect what's obscene. That's not leadership — that's corruption.
💥 NY-17 Deserves Better
We need a representative who fights for:
✅ Teachers, firefighters, and nurses — not billionaires
✅ Essential workers — not essential cuts
✅ Clean air, safe food, and a livable future — not corporate profits
✅ Expanded Social Security — not billionaire tax breaks
We could do all of this if we simply taxed those profiting off your labor. But Lawler would never vote for that — because his donors wouldn't allow it.

👉 Mike Lawler stop selling out working people to serve his wealthy donors such as Elon Musk
👉 Tax billionaires and Wall Street Speculation
👉 Protect and expand the programs we paid into
👉 Represent NY-17 — not Elon Musk, and not his corporate donors
He works for them. We deserve someone who works for us.

We're watching. We're organizing. And we're done being ignored.

Why is this important?
Mike Lawler's actions are putting the well-being of thousands of families in our district at risk. In NY-17, nearly half of all children rely on Medicaid or Child Health Plus for healthcare. Additionally, up to 72% of households in certain areas depend on food assistance programs. Yet, Lawler voted for a Republican budget that could cut Medicaid by up to $880 billion, jeopardizing healthcare for 98,000 people in our district.
While claiming to protect Social Security and Medicare, Lawler has never promised to safeguard Medicaid. His recent vote contradicts his previous assurances, showing a disregard for the needs of his constituents.
Furthermore, Lawler's support for tax policies that favor the ultra-wealthy, like Elon Musk, while ordinary workers face higher tax rates, highlights his priorities. He has emphasized the importance of lifting the SALT cap to pass a GOP tax bill, a move that would benefit high-income earners at the expense of essential services.
These actions are not isolated; they are part of a broader strategy to shift resources away from public services and towards the wealthy. They’ve got us fighting a culture war so we won't fight a class war. While we are distracted, policies are being enacted that undermine our social safety net and concentrate power and wealth in the hands of a few.

This is about more than politics; it's about the survival and well-being of our community. We must hold our representatives accountable to ensure that our needs are prioritized over the interests of the wealthy few.
Because if we don't call this out now — it only gets worse.
