Restoration of Obama's Cuba Policy by the Biden-Harris Administration

Restoration of Obama's Cuba Policy by the Biden-Harris Administration

We ask you to finally implement the pledge of the Biden-Harris campaign to "promptly restore" President Obama's opening with Cuba including general licenses for all travel; cultural, sports and educational exchanges; flights to regions and cruises; unrestricted remittances and personal transfers; agricultural sales; business agreements; and renewal of full embassy and consular services.

Why is this important?

Protests in Cuba on July 11th have dramatized the cost of President Biden and Vice President Harris delay in fulfilling their campaign pledge to "promptly reverse the failed Trump policies that have inflicted harm on the Cuban people".

Substantial majorities of Americans support repairing the Trump Administration's symbolic and substantive damage to our freedom as well as to our national political and economic interest.

Sadly the Biden-Harris Administration has allowed the shadow of Trump to dominate US policy on Cuba more than seven months after replacing him.

It is unconscionable to continue to deny Cuban Americans the ability to provide desperately needed remittances to their families and to ignore the Constitutional right of all Americans to travel.

Prompt action is essential so independent visitors and specialized travel agencies can create trips that renew support for Cuba's private sector in the fall of 2021.

Cruise lines, tour operators, airlines, universities, cultural exchanges, agricultural producers and businesses require confirmed policy change in order to resume jobs providing engagement in the 2021-22 season.

Reasons for signing

  • Importance of protecting peaceful nations pursuing their own interests in their own way. Cuba is certainly an exemplar!
  • Cultural exchange will enable positive changes for both Cuba and the U.S.
  • Obama's policies were a good first step. I would like to see the blockade ended as it causes human suffering to no apparent purpose.
