Stephanie Meyer and The Twilight Saga Should Support the Quileute Tribe's Move to Higher Ground

Stephanie Meyer, the author of The Twilight Saga, needs to compensate the Quileute tribe by helping them resettle to a safer location where they can raise their families and keep their tribe’s culture alive. Originally using their tribal name and history without consent, Meyer made billions from not only the original trilogy and the movie franchise, but she is continuing to write content for the Twilight Saga with her latest release, Midnight Sun. With all of the money she has made using their likeness, she should be able to make a large donation to help them move their school and their village, so their legacy can continue on for years to come.

Why is this important?

According to their website, the Quileute tribe is currently crowdfunding through paypal to move their school (and eventually their village) up out of a tsunami zone off of the Pacific Northwest Coast. A tsunami could devastate and destroy their community in only 10 minutes. The school that they are looking to move is the only school that teaches their unique language, culture, and customs. With the pressure of Covid-19, getting the funds to safely relocate parts of their community will be tough. It is no secret that the Quileute tribe indirectly (and without their consent) helped Meyer become the best-selling author she is today. With The Twilight Saga being able to rack up billions of dollars in revenue worldwide, it is only fair for the author and franchise to make a sizable donation to the Tribe that was exploited in these books to help their legacy live on and for their community to safely relocate.
