WE THE PEOPLE offer our signature in support of Whiteswan Environmental (WE), a Native-led nonprofit who invites you, as land stewards from the Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management San Juan Island National Monument, and National Historical Parks, to attend a gathering on August 25th, 2024 at English Camp, Pe’pi’ow’elh, an ancestral village site known as the Lummi Creation Island.
The event is titled WE COME FROM THAT (the land, water, salmon, reef net, and language that belongs to it).
Your presence will be an act of truth and reconciliation as you witness the true history of the Saltwater Salmon People who have been erased from their ancestral homelands. WE want you to say "yes, longhouse restoration is a good idea."

Why is this important?
This campaign for change supports truth, healing, and reconcili-ACTION. Your signature and support can help us educate our next generations about our village sites, camps, reef net locations, and 13 moon food sovereignty to the Salish Sea. Our presence and practice as Indigenous people who have lived here on the mainland, islands and waterways since time immemorial is a layer of cultural and environmental protection for all. Saltwater Salmon People know no borders.
