Residents vs Alabama Power Company
Alabama Power have to Lower the rates. The cost of Power a month is constantly getting higher and harder to pay. Residents like myself have seen on their most recent bill rates up to 1k a month in Power utilities. This is higher than most people’s rent and car payments and/or other utilities. The fact the residents of Tuscaloosa and surrounding counties don’t have other options when it comes to where we get our services for utilities, we should be priced at a working and livable wage. We the people want fair rates.
Why is this important?
It’s important because if we don’t speak up now! Rates will continue to rise and we will continue to be expected to pay them regardless of the price on the bill. The city doesn’t have reliable utility assistance for its residents. Community Service doesn’t have funding… Most community organizations will tell you that the bill can’t exceed $200 dollars in order to receive assistance. So majority of our residents don’t qualify for the assistance. It’s important to remember the cost of living and minimum wage that the state still hasn’t graduated from.
