If you hear the sound of a gun, you would try to protect yourself from further gun fire. The police are using new technology that uses the sound of gun fire to help protect the citizens. This proposed bill is trying to make it easier for people to buy gun silencers. The current law - which is not infringing on anyone's right to own a gun - makes it very difficult to buy a silencer, and for good reason. If gun silencers were able to be purchased freely, then there's a greater risk of killing innocent lives. Also, a greater use of gun silencers will impede the police from protecting us, especially when there's a mass shooting. After trying for less than 3 weeks to “fix” health care with a draconian bill, the President has given up. His Plan B is to let the ACA explode. This is irresponsible and violates his Oath of Office. If the ACA collapses, it will be because the President is aggressively taking action to undermine it. He issued an Exec Order (13765) in January saying that because he is seeking “prompt repeal” of the ACA, agencies should waive, defer or delay its enforcement. Agencies have: •Refused to enforce the tax penalty on people who don’t buy health insurance. •Destabilized the program by pulling ads to encourage sign ups. •Cut funding where possible. EO 13765 needs to be revoked. Its premise—ACA’s prompt repeal—is no longer valid. More importantly, the Administration needs to enforce and support the ACA. IT IS THE LAW.

Colin Kapernick exercised his right to silent protest against the National Anthem and donated $1 million dollars to social justice related organizations as a result. It has been said that he has been "blackballed" by all NFL teams due to his decision to advocate for people of color, and social justice. I parked my car in front of my house 14 min before NO PARKING street cleaning time was up, after the street sweeper went through, and I was charged $80!!! Minimum wage in Los Angeles is $9/hr. A minimum wage worker makes $81 in an 8hr work day. With taxes, Social Security, and all of the stuff you take out of the wage, it will take two full days to pay for one parking ticket (for street cleaning). A parking ticket is supposed to be a slap on the wrist and not break the bank!

Last week, U.S. Representative Devin Nunes—a member of Donald Trump's transition team and chair of the House Intelligence Committee—disclosed possible information about alleged White House surveillance to members of the press and the White House, prior to sharing it with members of his own committee. Additionally, the day before Rep. Nunes addressed the news media about these claims, he held a secret meeting at the White House with the source of the allegations. This is partisan obstruction of justice. The interests of our country are being threatened by partisan politics. Rep. Nunes appears to be in collusion with Trump to protect him from the investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia. Kick Rep. Nunes off the House Intelligence Committee and demand a special prosecutor to lead an independent investigation!

Omar Barghouti is to receive the Gandhi Peace Award (presented by Promoting Enduring Peace) on April 23, 2017, in New Haven, CT along with legendary safety activist and Pentagon critic Ralph Nader. Barghouti is being honored for leading the BDS movement. BDS stands for boycotts, divestment and sanctions, peaceful ways to pressure Israel into honoring Palestinian rights. However, the Israeli government wants BDS crushed along with any other form of resistance to Israeli dictates. Israeli President Revlin has called BDS a “strategic threat” implying it’s a grave physical threat to Israelis. Omar Barghouti was arrested on March 19 by Israeli authorities and interrogated for days. Barghouti has been married to an Israeli citizen for decades, but he only has the status of “permanent resident”. Last year his permit to travel was revoked by the Israeli government. That same year the Israeli interior minister threatened to revoke his permission to reside in Israel. Another minister called for the “civil targeted assassination” of BDS leaders. The Israeli government also set up something it called a “Tarnishing Unit” whose purpose was “dirty tricks” against supporters of BDS, In an attempt to attend the Gandhi Peace Award honoring him, Barghouti's attorney went to the Interior Ministry and received a document on March 16 that entitled him to two months of travel. It was seized when he was arrested. That is the background to his arrest for “tax evasion”. We do not know Barghouti’s side of the story about the tax charges because the case is under a “gag order” and he cannot speak about the case. Given the history of threats against BDS and Omar Barghouti personally, the assumption should be that the Israeli government is making good on its threat to eliminate Palestinian BDS activists, starting with Omar Barghouti. This appears to be political persecution.

This petition is to prevent a proposed fracking operation in the Flint Hills of Kansas and specifically near The National Tall Grass Preserve. Not only is this region a rare and unique ecosystem it also sits near the Humbolt fault zone a historically active fault zone that could be disturbed by high-pressure wastewater injection causing damaging earthquakes.

Our children's education should be our state's top priority, and SB1431 is built under false pretenses. School voucher programs have undeniably negative consequences on the future of public schools, families of low-income status and the state’s general funds. Vouchers and tax credit scholarships appear to focus on giving parents better opportunities for their children, but disadvantages low-income families who cannot exercise the school choice option. Private schools are not held to the same standards as public schools, are not required to test students, and are not obligated to admit a student.

Our Elections were hacked. And our three-branch government only works if the checks and balances work. A major check on executive misdeeds is this Intel committee. Congressman Nunes, by obfuscating and cancelling the public hearings we need, is in dereliction of duty as a legislative Check on the Executive Branch. And he needs to step down or do his job.
