• Stop the Inhumane Killing of Rattlesnakes in Texas
"The only good snake is a dead snake" they say. Every year, Texans catch and kill tens of thousands of rattlesnakes by drowning them in gasoline, stomping on them, shooting them, burying them alive, and many more barbaric tortures. The legislators don't want to do anything about it since it draws such a massive profit. Help us end the senseless mass killing of these dazzling predators.

It's about my 4 children who I lost custody of, I opened the case to get help and the safety for my children, not for them to take my children away and put me through stress and depression, I had a full time job a great career, a home, car, stable home, and my children were in great health and had a great education, I lost my job because of the situation, so I was told from my boss. My life hasn't been the same ever since I lost them..also proof that the grandparent who have custody of my children, my word against hers that she only wants my kids for the money, well...that's what the grandmother stated,so I was told from the oldest daughter who works at a law firm. Kids prefer to live with me so do i, they secretly have called me many times that she is mean and want to come home...the parent who seeks help from the state or government should be helped not feeling helpless .. if anyone can help please email me [email protected] Thank you for your time, Stephanie Garcia :)

  • Free Raunchino James
Raunchino James has been serving a 21 year sentence for a crime he did not commit. He refused to plead guilty as offered in exchange for a lighter sentence because he knew that he was not guilty of the crime. During this trial there was basically no evidence, as there were no matching fingerprints, no weapons found, not even a matching description in the evidence presented by prosecutors. There was no physical evidence to substantiate a verdict of guilty handed down by the judge who tried the case. Later it was discovered that there was false testimony given, NO DNA, and conflicting testimony!!! Raunchino James, a college graduate, an upwardly mobile young Black man, along with two other young men, were sentenced to over 20 years in prison for the crime of home invasion. This was a lengthy sentence for a crime that he did not commit. Let's start by challenging the system, by changing things, by protesting the faulty, unfair criminal justice system! This is a son of a personal friend, so it touches my heart deeply to see a life destroyed needlessly and to know that this is going on every day in this country. Let's make a difference!

  • President Obama please refrain from repeatedly defaming Iran as anti-Semite and terrorist
Dear ‪President Obama‬--yet again during your most recent interview with ‪Jon Stewart (July 2015) you repeated your accusation that Iranians are both terrorist and anti-Semitic--and of all people he (Jon Stewart) did not utter a word in protest. At 6:19 minute you say, sir, "with respect to Iran, look, this is an adversary. They are anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, they sponsor terrorist organization like Hezballah." You were even counting with your right hand finger when counting these Iranian vices. Mr President: Iran is a country of almost 80 million human beings, perhaps the most pro-American country in the entire region, and the most ancient home for millions of Jews from antiquity to the present --they are dancing with joy in the streets because of the nuclear accord--sporting T-shirts with I Love USA and American flag-- If in order to appease the Israeli lobby you wish to accuse the ruling state in Iran of any and all atrocities that is your choice--but the pronoun "they" in your sentence, sir, refers to all Iranians-- If indeed you think this entire nation is what you told Jon Stewart they are then why you send them those Nowruz messages every year and quote their beloved and globally celebrated poets like Sa'di, sir? Are they decent people with a rich and tolerant culture or are they those things you counted with your right hand fingers? We ask you please to refrain from repeatedly defaming Iran (an entire nation) and calling them anti-Semite and terrorist--it is unseemly--of all people from you Sir.

  • Stop Ted Cruz from killing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau!
It's hard to believe – Sen. Ted Cruz just introduced a bill this week to ABOLISH the successful Consumer Financial Protection Bureau! That's the agency that brought Elizabeth Warren to prominence when she first proposed it in 2007. Sign the petition to tell Ted Cruz: Withdraw your reckless plan to abolish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Ted Cruz is running for president, and the Wall Street executives funding his campaign *love* this scheme. Wall Street can't stand having an agency dedicated solely to protecting everyday people from getting ripped off by big banks, payday loan sharks, and credit card companies. In just under 4 years since being founded, the CFPB has: • Forced big banks to return more than $10 billion to consumers they had cheated. • Investigated for-profit colleges with deceptive advertising that has thrown hundreds of thousands of students deep into debt. • Just this week, CFPB forced Citigroup to return $770 million to consumers after pushing consumers into taking bad credit cards using deceptive practices. Ted Cruz calls abolishing the consumer protection agency “a step in the right direction.” The only direction it would take us is back to the ‘Wild West’ days of Wall Street bankers running wild and ripping off consumers. Sign the petition to tell Ted Cruz: Stop your attempts to undermine the consumer protection agency!

As members and friends of Community Peace Builders of Oberlin, we have been working for more than a decade to avoid a war with Iran and establish better relations. • FOX News: Ask GOP candidates about voting rights!
Anyone who wants to be president needs a plan to protect every voter’s right to be heard – and that plan should start with restoring the full protections of the Voting Rights Act. The 50th anniversary of that historic law is August 6th, 2015 -- and it's also the day of the first 2016 presidential debate, hosted by Fox News. They should do their jobs as journalists and get every candidate on the record about this critical issue: do they support restoring the Voting Rights Act and ensuring every American can be heard in our democracy?

  • Domestic Violence
Most offenders get a slap on the wrist for beating their partner, daughter in-law, etc. Most women are terrified to call the police out of fear that nothing will be done, or their abuser will be released the next day. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence; my ex father in-law hit me twice in the head with a steel skillet, causing a large bruise on my brain and a hair-line fracture in my skull. I now live with chronic vertigo and severe anxiety, among other things. My attacker received 37 days in jail as a repeat offender. Please stiffen the punishments on these people so their victims can sleep peacefully knowing their abuser can never hurt them again.

  • Scott Walker proves: we need strong recusal standards
The Wisconsin Supreme Court recently ended the investigation of possible illegal activity between Scott Walker's 2011-2012 recall campaign and outside special interest groups. Now Wisconsinites and the rest of the American people will never know if Scott Walker and his campaign engaged in illegal activity during 2011-2012! Four of the justices of the court (Michael Gableman, David Prosser, Patience Roggensack and Annette Ziegler) were the beneficiaries of dark money spent in their behalf — and dark money was at the heart of this case. These judges should have recused themselves and did not. In Wisconsin, it is up to the court itself to adopt recusal rules, which they voted against doing not long ago. Demand that they adopt strong rules and abide by them to ensure our courts are fair and impartial.
