The Obama Administration is currently negotiating, in secret, a massive so called free trade agreement called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). TPP leaks indicate that this agreement will greatly empower Corporations by virtually eliminating consumer, health, safety, labor, privacy and environmental regulations. In essence this will be a global Corporate coup. In order to get this through congress President Obama will be asking Congress to approve fast track legislation.

These city and state officials are really over reaching. So please let's sign this petition and make a difference. When they put a ban on Big Game fishing from shore several people I know were affected including myself. Instead of actually finding a solution to the shark attacks here in NC, (putting up shark proof nets or hiring shark spotters) they just ban all and any type of big game fishing. This is over-reaching and a violation of our rights.

I am tired of Koch Industries influencing academic research and preventing honest learning in Kansas universities as well as universities and colleges across the United States. This includes donations to KU, KSU, FHSU, WSU and Bethel College. In addition to this they are major pollutors and the think tanks they support and have founded are used to undermine democracy in states across the U.S.

Major food companies combined have spent over $100 million on anti-labeling campaigns and their trade association, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, is supporting a new bill in Congress — The DARK Act — that would prevent mandatory FDA labeling. This new industry-friendly bill will keep consumers in the dark. Unless GMO labeling is mandatory, consumers will not get the information they need to make informed choices. Quaker, a brand that prides itself on its honest and healthy image, is not being fully transparent to parents, families and consumers across the country — marketing their products on trust, but supporting anti-labeling efforts at the same time. A Confederate monument sits on display at downtown Orlando’s popular Lake Eola Park, a family-centered public space where inclusiveness is celebrated through many events and amenities. The statue's inscription boasts: "This monument shall stand for years to come as our loving tribute to the Confederate soldier and as a memorial of his heroic courage, his unparalleled devotion, and his unselfish patriotism." We ask, what exactly is it that makes a monument of a Confederate soldier an appropriate symbol of patriotism to the United States of America when the goal of the Confederacy was to secede from the United States? This is NOT patriotism. This monument also represents an overt display of pride in the marginalization of, and violence towards, Black people in the South as the Confederacy fought for secession in order to protect Southern supporters of slavery and its presence is entirely unacceptable in this public park. We must learn from our past, but there are much more appropriate places for that learning to take place, such as a state history museum.

The fireworks terrify my dog and wake my granddaughter up. People shoot them at all hours, some all year long! They celebrate birthdays, parties, etc., nothing to do with the holiday.

To show the ABC Board there is no public support for their ridiculous ruling and waste of taxpayer money in a year long investigation, hearings, and appeals.

Governor Bryant has stated that he will not call a special session of the MS Legislature unless one of the factors was a major economic project. We contend that changing the MS Flag, by removing the Beauregard Confederate Battle Flag in its canton corner, is the most important economic project Mississippi will undertake in its nearly 200-year history.

Hedge-fund managers are earning exorbitant incomes, and many are avoiding paying taxes by pretending to run offshore reinsurance firms. The top 25 hedge-fund managers earned more than all of our nation's kindergarten teachers in 2014. Despite this, these hedge fund managers are paying a lower effective tax rate than most middle-class families. The IRS and Treasury department is considering a proposal to close the reinsurance loophole, which enables hedge fund managers to pay minimal amounts in taxes on their unbelievable earnings. They do not need the additional benefit of funneling their earnings through an offshore reinsurance company so that they can further reduce their taxes. The IRS and Treasury Department have a duty to preserve fairness in the tax code, and the hedge fund reinsurance loophole is plainly abusive and unfair. Former Representative David Camp has a three prong test that would prevent abuses and ensure tax fairness. That test says that “an insurance company would have to have more than 50 percent of its gross receipts consist of insurance premiums, have insurance liabilities equal to 35 percent of its total assets, and be subject to tax as an insurer if it were a U.S. business.” The IRS and Treasury Department should do the fair thing for the American people by closing this loophole. It’s only fair that people making so much money should be playing by the same rules as the rest of us.

Pennsylvania's refusal to grant parole and commute the sentences of those who have been rehabilitated is financially draining for taxpayers.
