City of Sturgeon Bay Reject the "Papke" Petition(s)The City of Sturgeon Bay has received a petition to rezone and develop a large tract of land on the city waterfront. The zoning petition is flawed, the City has violated Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws, several of the members of the committees responsible for making the decision have serious conflicts of interest, and the City appears determined to grant the zoning request, despite overwhelming opposition from its citizens.629 of 800 SignaturesCreated by James O. Scrap the Plan to Divert Water from Queensland Rivers for coalminesWater is a public good. Companies must be stopped from using water for private gain at the expense of the community and at the expense of our health. We must ensure that protections are put in place to ensure that water is protected and stop the privatization and profiting from water by corporations for harmful activities - in particular - coal mining and hydraulic fracturing. We only have a small window in which to avoid the worst consequences of global warming - let us stop supporting fossil fuel.816 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Joelle Hervic

Trapped Animals Intentionally Tortured by Charlotte County FloridaCharlotte County Florida Employees are intentionally torturing trapped hogs spearing and slashing them and leaving them to die. The evidence was captured on a County Surveillance camera. This is a clear violation of Florida Statute 828.12 which forbids “excessive or repeated infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering upon any animal.” Charlotte County refuses to fire those responsible and their superior who is to be held accountable for these brutal acts. PETA has investigated and issued an alert "Demand for Justice". http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/demand-justice-florida-pigs-tortured-traps/ Click this link and you will see some of the photos: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8747nfyevxp1a3w/AAA6J5i7hzAdeChQQYNhnis0a/6-13-14?dl=0 Fox News Story: http://www.jrn.com/fox4now/news/Woman-promises-to-interfere-with-inhumane-animal-traps-288614251.html We want Charlotte County to stop this activity and dismiss those employees ASAP. Charlotte County cannot leave these employees on the job. Leaving these people on the job will not resolve what happened and is not the message that our citizens deserve.386 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Concerned Citizens of Charlotte County

Make Equal Housing Opportunity TRULY equalI am a 29 year old male and I live in the state of Tennessee, county of Davidson, city of Nashville. My roommate and I have recently started looking for a bigger apartment recently and even applied for an apartment that fit our financial needs and space. Later that day, we received noticed that we were denied due to "credit risk". I make over 3 times the base rent alone and with my roommate, we both make over 4 times the base rent. I may not have perfect credit (low 500s due to student loans), but I am still a person that is trying to make a living and have a decent home, just like everyone else. I have never been arrested, never been to jail, never been evicted, and I don't owe any properties any money. I know plenty of people that this has affected and they are also having a hard time finding a place to live. A person's credit should not be the only determining factor on if a person is eligible to rent a property. The management should look at other factors as well such as employment, previous history (as long as there are no evictions and payments are made, regardless if it is late), income, and criminal background. Make rental properties TRULY equal so that hard working Americans like myself can get the housing that they deserve.35 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stephen Scarborough

Wilmington, DE Mayor Dennis Williams Needs to GoProperty values are dropping and companies are moving out of the city to avoid crime and are taking tax revenues with them. (Boy, I wonder who is going to make up that deficit? Maybe the ones who stay?) Crime is out of control and Williams' brainstorm was to introduce Coffee with a Cop. SERIOUSLY? Then Williams instituted a homicide unit, probably a year late. He also feels the need to bash articles and the media about calling the city Murdertown instead of addressing the issue. He can save faith by standing up, raising his hand, saying he is in over his head and needs some help.70 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Scott Ciabattoni

President asked to explain the working man's benefits of the Trade DealsAll U.S. citizens will be affected by passage of these trade treaties, because 1) Jobs will once again flow out of the U.S., just as they did under NAFTA. Remember the glowing promises President Clinton made to sell NAFTA. Just the opposite has come to pass. “Fast-tracked international trade deals have led to exploding U.S. trade deficits, soaring food imports into the U.S., increased off-shoring of American jobs, and an unprecedented rise in income inequality”, according to a compilation and analysis of 20 years of trade and economic data released January 15 2015 by the watchdog group Public Citizen. and, 2) These treaties create international tribunals, composed of corporate attorneys, that allow corporations to challenge and override domestic laws or regulations of the signatory nation that might adversely impact the corporation's “expected future profits”. This process would undermine our sovereignty and subvert democratically passed laws, including those dealing with labor (wages, benefits, and collective bargaining), health (food safety, for example), and the environment (creating immense pressure for all signatory nations to adopt the least restrictive environmental standards). These treaties would greatly accelerate a global race to the bottom, where the taxpayers of a nation-state might be required to reimburse a global corporation (for its supposed loss of “expected future profits”?!?) No one has asked the President to explain the treaties from the workers’ perspective. At the macroeconomic level, he can “sell’ these treaties like Clinton sold NAFTA and demand fast track treatment. As citizens, our voice is not being heard. In our country, we have the right to expect that our President will address our concerns, especially when many of us press that expectation on him.193 of 200 SignaturesCreated by William Earley, Mary Laan, Tom Rutkowski, Mike McCabe
