RI Department of Health: Block the Spectra Pipeline ExpansionThis expansion is part of the AIM Project, a proposed major expansion of the fracked natural gas infrastructure. Not only is this project part of a national energy policy that is potentially ruinous for life on Earth, but also it poses an imminent threat to the safety and health of the people of Rhode Island and of Burrillville in particular.214 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Fossil Free Rhode Island

Change Medicaid Rule That Confiscates Alzheimer's Caregiver's Family HomesFamily caregivers make the ultimate sacrifice in caring for loved ones. After years of caregiving, should they be thrown out in the street? Especially, older family caregivers approaching retirement or in retirement? Does it make sense to put caregivers in a Section 8 housing program, or to allow them to stay in the family home? Caregivers save the government billions of dollars a year in Medicaid costs. Do they deserve the punishment that Medicaid offers? This doesn't happen in Canada or other parts of the industrialized world. It only happens here, in America. It's time to stop this horrible Medicaid practice.33 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Hardin

Stop the Speeding by Naples Elementary SchoolI live on The Toledo in Naples, Long Beach. Every day, especially around rush hour, I've noticed cars speeding by way too fast for a neighborhood, especially since Naples Elementary School is on The Toledo. There are signs of course, but signs are easy to ignore. There should be speed bumps on either side of the school, which is also the stretch of the street where drivers can reach their highest speeds.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dan Hofstadter

End Horse SlaughterOur horses shaped America and we need to stand up for them. The horses of this country are companion animals and are to be kept that way. The horses shipped to slaughter are in a living hell before they are cruelly killed and slaughtered. I have a daily concern that my precious horse could be stolen and shipped to a slaughter house. Please share a horse lover's concern.41 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Erin

Petition to UC: Respect Richmond! The new campus will be three quarters the size of the current UC Berkeley campus once complete, and could transform one of the most disadvantaged communities in all of California. Richmond, a community made up of 83% people of color and where 1 in 3 children live in poverty, has a long history of environmental degradation, poor public health outcomes, lack of affordable housing, poorly performing public schools and a severe shortage of good middle class jobs. The University of California has an opportunity, and the ability, to help lift out of poverty a community where real economic opportunity has remained out of reach for the majority of its residents. Therefore we call on the University of California to sign a legally binding community benefits agreement that includes: Housing: Invest in an Anti-Displacement Fund to subsidize the development of affordable housing units and protect low income tenants. Training: Invest in training programs to ensure that local and disadvantaged workers develop skills for professions on the Richmond Bay Campus. Living Wage: Institute a living wage policy to lift all workers out of poverty at the Berkeley Global Campus. Construction Jobs: Sign a Project Labor Agreement with the Contra Costa Building Trades Council that ensures union representation and includes local hire language. Permanent Employment: Ensure jobs similarly performed at UC's Berkeley campus covered by collective bargaining agreements remain UC jobs at the new campus. Small Business: Invest in and enhance opportunities for small businesses. Education: Invest in a Youth Opportunity and Education Fund for Pre K-12 and community college students to help build career pathways.506 of 600 SignaturesCreated by David Sharples

Stop the RIFThe RIF plan is going to ruin Brookdale. Tuition needs to increase (as it should) in order to keep Brookdale as the great college that it is. This tuition increase could save the college. If tuition does not increase by $15 a credit, and nothing is done to stop the RIF, Brookdale will fall apart, and it is unfair to the students.291 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Paul

Warren Buffett: Stop Financing Deals that Hurt AmericaBurger King and its top shareholders will dodge up to $1.2 billion in U.S. taxes over four years as a result of this accounting sleight of hand. President Obama has condemned tax inversion deals, calling them “unpatriotic” because big corporations stick Americans with the tab for not paying their fair share of taxes. Inversions are legal, but unquestionably unfair. While this scheme hurts American taxpayers, it is hugely profitable for the people making it possible. Buffet is financing the inversion through his firm, Berkshire Hathaway, for a whopping 9% return on his investment. Mister Buffett, please support a fair tax system, where corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, and avoid deals that make the rest of us pick up their tab.90 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Americans for Tax Fairness

Marijuana in CherokeeDue to the recent changes in federal law. The western North Carolina band of Cherokee Native Americans and EBCI council can now grow and sale medical Marijuana to thier tribe and to those who are in need of pain relief within it without risk of addiction or worse. As I myself lost my only sister to a legally sold and taxed synthetic marijuana, trying to pass a probation screening. If you wish to do more or reach the tribal members you may do so here.. http://theonefeather.com/cherokee-elected-officials Thanks Casey Lee413 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Casey Stuart

Tell Congress: Ban Torture. Period. We live in a dangerous world. But when CIA operatives and contractors torture terrorist suspects, it doesn't make us safer -- and it doesn't work. The recent CIA torture report made that abundantly clear. Right now, the federal law that bans torture only applies to the U.S. military -- not our intelligence agencies. President Obama's executive order barring all agencies from using torture could be reversed, even in secret, by a future president. That's why it's critical that Congress act swiftly to pass a law barring all agencies of the U.S. government, and contractors acting on our behalf, from engaging in torture. Without legislation, the door on torture is still open. It's time for Congress to slam that door shut once and for all.23,610 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Ron Wyden

Restore GEA to Cambridge CSD in 2015-2016As a school community, Cambridge CSD has already made significant reductions to critical components of our annual school budget as rising costs outpaced revenue. Staff positions, class sections, and services have been reduced for students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. We are working together as a district to make difficult decisions and reduce spending. Now we need your continued support to ensure the adopted state budget upholds the funding promises made to school districts across the state, by eliminating the GEA. This year alone (in the 2014-15 state aid calculations), Cambridge lost $891,670 in funding that was promised to our district, but taken back to balance the state budget. Every year since 2009, Cambridge has lost an average of over one million dollars to the GEA, and this disturbing trend must be addressed. We ask you to take immediate action to prevent long-term negative effects on the quality of public education for Cambridge students. Abolish the Gap Elimination Adjustment in this year’s state budget.144 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kate Mattison
