I believe that students should have a say in important school policies that will affect the student body's day-to-day life. This will be a way to take action and have a say in school policies. I know a lot of people are unhappy with this policy, so why don't we change it ? This is your way to make change happen and come together as a group to fight for change.

In March, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was mistakenly and illegally deported to an infamous mega-prison in El Salvador — the same country he fled as a teenager because of gang violence. Then in June, after a unanimous Supreme Court ruling and tireless advocacy from movement partners, activists, and champions in Congress like Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Abrego Garcia was returned to the United States — only to once again have his freedom denied as the federal government spun up criminal charges against him. Just recently, the father of three was finally reunited with his family after more than 160 days apart. But Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took Abrego Garcia back into custody. This time, the Trump administration is threatening to deport him to Uganda. Activists like you helped bring Abrego Garcia home once, and activists like you will help keep him here. With his future — and our values — on the line once more, we know it’ll take even MORE people putting pressure on Congress to speak out and demand justice, and that starts right now. 

Millions of lives are on the line. COVID-19 vaccines have proven to save lives, prevent hospitalizations, and protect our communities. Now, the Trump administration, with RFK Jr.’s involvement in HHS, is threatening to remove these lifesaving vaccines from circulation. This isn’t just politics—it’s a direct threat to public health. We must act now to ensure Congress stops this reckless plan before it puts countless Americans at risk.

Today, parents in Gaza are watching their babies waste away. Children are crying for food that doesn’t exist. Hundreds of thousands more are at risk. Since March 2, the Israeli government has blocked most international non-governmental organizations, like Oxfam, Médecins Sans Frontières, and other trusted humanitarians, from delivering even a single truck of lifesaving aid. The Israeli government is on a disastrous course. It’s one that ensures more bombings, more human suffering, and that people across the region remain in incredible danger — and it’s made possible by an arsenal of BILLIONS of dollars in U.S.-made weapons. It’s time to END U.S. complicity in Israeli PM Netanyahu’s horrific war. Luckily, right now, multiple champions in Congress are working to turn the tide, including with legislation like the Block the Bombs Act. ‘Block the Bombs’ represents what people across the country want: To halt a deadly flow of U.S. weapons that fuel unspeakable violence. Every day without action means more senseless deaths. This bill is gaining crucial momentum as pressure builds on Congress to do something. But it will only pass if we overwhelm the House with support — and that’s where you come in. Will you urge the House to pass the Block the Bombs Act (H.R.3565) immediately?

Yale is a welcoming university in a welcoming city. Supporting Avelo undermines those values. Just as the City of New Haven cut ties with Avelo for profiting from ICE’s abuses, we call on Yale to stand with our community and reject putting profit over people.   

The United States has a long and distressing past of mass incarceration. It is widely acknowledged in sociological and political studies that mass incarceration disproportionately affects black people. According to the Sentencing Project, there is an average of 6.7 black individuals to one white individual currently incarcerated in Michigan. Black people make up 13% of the entire US population, yet are the highest incarcerated demographic in the US at 32%.  Mass incarceration creates a cycle of disadvantage that affects individuals, families, and even entire neighborhoods. Family members are removed from their homes, directly impacting family relationships and childhoods. Social networks are broken, and community members experience a disruption in collective action. This evokes financial strain and further emotional stress in communities that are intentionally left without resources to support themselves.   James Jones is a black man born and raised in the city of Detroit who has endured a wrongful conviction and was initially targeted by the Detroit Police Department.  With the current state of this country, we need to change these trends of devastation in the black community and fight back through awareness and direct action!! The City of Syracuse is in the middle of a housing crisis. Nob Hill is one of the largest apartment complexes in the region. It has the potential to have beautiful apartments that could be a major resource to our community, but instead its residents are fleeing due to the horrible management of the property. New tenants are blindsided as they are being leased apartments with leaks, mold, faulty water and heat, and lack of appliances. As a city where 60% of residents are renters, this is about fighting for the care and rights of the majority of our neighbors. We don't want Nob Hill to become the city's next Skyline Apartments.

The EPA scheduled a two-day hearing on its proposed recission of the Endangerment Finding. So many people signed up to testify that they had to add two days and created a waiting list when those slots were filled. The testimony was overwhelmingly in favor of keeping the Endangerment Finding. Scientists, health professionals, state government representatives, environmental and health advocates testified along side individuals who shared their stories about how climate change-fueled natural disasters have already endangered them or how concerned they are for future generations. The public can still submit written comments through September 22. This petition will be submitted as a comment on the docket. But, as has been the case with our other recent petitions, it's also important for individuals to submit their own comments. Earlier this month, the Trump administration removed a tool on Regulations.gov that allowed organizations to collect and submit comments in bulk. It is Trump's latest attempt to silence us. We have never relied on that tool. We have created EZ forms that we upload individually on your behalf. Our EZ form to comment on the Endangerment Finding gives you the option to tell your climate story - your experiences, your concerns. The personal stories people shared when they testified were compelling. We urge you to add yours. On their own free time, SJ and six others climbed El Capitan in Yosemite and took part in a tradition of hanging a flag at the top.  They never thought the display of acceptance and love would result in their losing their job. But in an effort to make an example out of them, the Trump administration is not only firing SJ, they are threatening criminal charges. Hanging flags off El Capitan has occurred in the past without consequences. In February, demonstrators hung an upside-down U.S. flag, often symbolizing a distress call, on El Capitan to draw attention to the mass firings by the Trump administration. And last year, a group “Climbers with Palestine” hung a flag in protest of the war on Gaza.  But the Trump administration has tightened restrictions around protest in an effort to suppress speech criticizing the government. And the day after the trans flag was displayed on El Capitan, Yosemite’s acting superintendent Ray McPadden signed a rule prohibiting people from hanging large banners, flags, or signs in nearly all areas of the park. The penalty? Up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for groups. Under Trump, the federal government has ramped up anti-LGBTQ+ policies, and the Park Service is no exception. The department has discouraged staff from participating in Pride events and stripped references to “transgender,” “bisexual,” and “queer” from the Stonewall website. SJ’s firing is a continuation of this administration's hostilities toward the LGBTQ+ community—sending a clear message to NPS staff that they, too, could lose their job for speaking out in support of LGBTQ+ rights. Trump and MAGA Republicans want to silence LGBTQ+ people and anyone who loves and supports them. But their efforts to suppress, intimidate, and divide us won’t work. The State Department stopped issuing temporary medical-humanitarian visas to people in Gaza. It’s an unconscionable reversal of a long-standing policy that allowed a small number of people, many of them children, to access life-saving medical care in the United States. This change isn’t about protecting people, or making anyone safer. It’s about weaponizing our government to punish. Punish people already starving under U.S.-backed, Israeli government restrictions on aid. Punish people the Israeli military has bombed with U.S.-made weapons for months. But Secretary Rubio has said the pause may be temporary, and that gives us a crucial chance to make the political costs of this choice too hard to bear. Let’s take advantage of every second and ensure everyone at State hears overwhelming support to reinstate this policy and help people access the life-saving medical care they need. We’re not risking this horrible policy becoming permanent because Secretary Rubio thinks people like us aren’t paying attention or, worse, that we don’t care. Sign now and urge him to allow people from Gaza to seek care and treatment in the United States.

I believe females should have the same opportunity in football as male classmates. Many females would love to play football but can’t because they won’t accommodate for women. They believe girls shouldn’t play football, and most males believe “It’s a man’s sport”. I’m starting this petition for the females who want to play football despite the gender restriction towards women in our school. Please help us get this out to the community and towards other schools as well and most importantly the School Board of Education.

When policing expands without clear, public rules, trust erodes and everyone — residents, officers, and City Hall — takes on unnecessary risk. These guardrails are simple, lawful steps that keep Sioux Falls safe and accountable. They protect civil rights, focus resources where they work, and ensure our city remains welcoming and fair.
