The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is considering huge new gas-fired power plants to replace the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Our leaders have a choice: make this setback a minor blip on the road to a safer climate by relying on clean energy solutions or lock-in 40 years of new fossil fuels by building huge new polluting gas plants.

To give due recognition to Constance Baker Motley (1921-2005), Civil Rights Attorney, Law maker and Judge. Judge Constance Baker Motley argued and won many of the most important desegregation cases in our country's history. She was a lead lawyer in the Brown vs the Board of Education. She was the only woman on the leadership team of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund with Thurgood Marshall, 1946-1964. 1st African American Woman to serve in the NYS Senate, 1st African American woman to serve as Manhattan Borough President, 1st African American woman to serve as a Federal judge to the US District Court and Chief Federal Judge. A Congressional Gold Medal is a fitting award for a woman who broke barriers and was a pioneer throughout her career and highly instrumental in bringing about desegregation in our public schools, colleges, housing, transportation and other public accomodations

I'm upset that certain states that are enacting laws to stop voter fraud that does not exist with the intent to make it difficult for certain classes of voters will have difficulty in voting. This is not what our forefathers Wanted.

The Supreme Court decision has set our country back 200 years. Too many people have died for the right of all Americans to let their voices be heard at the polling place. Rep. McNerney, you should stand with us in restoring this basic human right.

Now more than ever that vote allows us to keep good people in office and remove those that we deem unworthy. It is one of the things that separates us from a "Dictatorship". What if you lost the power to choose where you will live, how your children will be educated, what religion you practice..........and even who you can marry? Well, if the "Voting Rights Amendment Act" of 2014(VRA) is not passed then some people may lose their vote, their freedom of "Choice".
