President Obama is talking about cutting Social Security benefits. Social Security was never set up for the government to have access to in the first place. This is money paid by all the taxpayers and that we have worked hard for. For many seniors, this is all they get in retirement, and cutting this would harm millions of seniors already affected by the economy.

Over the last few years, groups across the country have called for an end to describing the more than 12 million undocumented immigrants that live in America as "illegal." The movement is headlined by efforts of Jose Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who announced in 2011 that he is an undocumented immigrant. Since that time, activists from across the country have pressured elected officials and news organizations to stop using the term "illegal" when describing America's millions of immigrants. Just recently, the Associated Press has announced they will stop using the term "illegal immigrant" or the term "illegal" when describing a person. They correctly reasoned that a behavior is illegal, but a person is not. The New York Times is also reconsidering using the term. An analysis by the Sunlight Foundation has found that Congressmen Lamar Smith and Ted Poe employed the term "illegal immigrant" the most over the last five years. Sign the petition and tell them that a behavior is illegal, but a person is not.

My 10 year old son attends an inner city school in Washington, DC. He is consumed with concern that another Newtown could place.

Vote yes on SB 237, The Fair Employment Act. By ending employment discrimination based on gender identity/expression, or sexual orientation, we will promote a welcoming and competitive workforce for all Texans, fostering diversity, innovation and spurring economic growth throughout Texas.

On Tuesday April 9 at 7 PM, the Norfolk City Council will hold a public hearing and vote immediately on a proposed $129 million agreement, with a private developer that has the city/taxpayers skin in at $89 million on a rushed deal. Council members only received the 117 page complex agreement on Friday, which precludes our "public servants" from having time to properly do their job. Education, affordable and decent housing, livable wage jobs and protection of vulnerable neighborhoods from sea level rise and storm water flooding should be top priorities for the Council, not corporate welfare.

I am a senior collecting social security. Please Mr President don not touch it.

My right to not fear for my life, liberty and happiness trumps misinformed paranoids' claims to unregulated gun ownership. Do not let the railings of the rabid right prevent the voice of the majority of Americans from being heard. We support universal gun registration and a ban on assault weapons.

Mayor Nutter needs to go after unpaid Real Estate Taxes. Over $472 million dollars of revenue. Very important let your voice be heard - attend the AVI Tax Meetings at City Hall, Room 400 on April 9 from 5 PM to 7 PM , April 16, 5 PM to 7 PM, April 23 from 6 PM to 8 PM - City Council and Members at Large who represent us, need to stand together and vote no.

Cutting Medicare benefits would put a hardship on our senior citizens!
