I lost two friends to gun violence. I want stricter gun laws. If all those who lost a loved one to gun violence sign this petition for stricter gun laws it will show that gun violence affects far more people than the immediate families of the victims. Today some 30 Americans are likely to die from firearms, including 17 children and youth under age 24. Since 1980 over 1 million Americans have lost their lives to gun violence. That translates into many millions of survivors and friends and families of those victims. If you are one of those survivors, please sign the petition and share with friends.

I have worked for and owned several small businesses and understand the issues small business owners face. I would like for our community to show their support for our local businesses in order for them remain successful. Small businesses give back to the community more then a lot of people think. Governor McCrory and the North Carolina House has introduced legislation titled H.B. 451 that can be construed as nothing but a blatant attack on democracy. Not only would this bill destroy North Carolina's judicial public financing system -- a model for the nation -- but it would also eliminate same day registration, Sunday voting, and a full week of early voting. This is politics at its most cynical -- politicians attempting to stifle the voice of the voters with blatantly partisan attacks. And now, at a time when voters are looking for answers to the influx of big money in elections, we should be looking for ways to reduce the influence of special interests not increase their power. Don't let these attacks on democracy go unanswered. Add your name to the petition and tell the Governor and the State Legislature to do the right thing and stop H.B. 451.

The best resource we have for a drowning victim is the closest lifeguard. Why is it that only a select few are notified of water rescues? If safety is our top priority then all town and village employed Lifeguards willing to respond to water rescues should be notified of water rescue near them.

Poor people or those who have debt are being held hostage by faulty credit reports, unfair credit scores and hiring practices which allow discrimination against those who have low credit scores. The reason people apply for jobs is to ensure that they can pay their bills, being unemployed or poor should not limit one's ability to gain employment. Please add economic class or status to the list of Title VII criteria that should not be considered by employers when making hiring decisions. Prospective employers should not be permitted to request credit reports or scores for applicants.

Have you heard about SJR 5, This proposed Constitutional Amendment would take rule-making power from the Arkansas Supreme Court and give it to the Legislature. The separation of our government into 3 branches was done on purpose, but the legislature wants to take back the power given to the courts and gut our justice system.

Deandre Poole Ph.D. is a professor of communications at Florida Atlantic University in Davie and Boca Raton FL. In February 2013 a student was disruptive and then complained to the University when Poole offfered an exercise from a textbook "Intercultural Comunications: A Contextual Approach." In the exercise students wrote the name of Jesus on paper and then were asked to step on it. (The exercise had been used before without incident. When students refused to step on the name, it was a source of fruitful discussion.) In March, after public criticism, the University apologized and said the exercise would not be used again. But a local pastor has called for a protest march and an online campaign to fire Dr Poole. As Dr Poole's friends, we want to tell the University President and the Chancellor of the State University System of Florida that it would be dangerous to bend to such pressure. Please help us protect the separation of church and state, which protects us all.

Being that State elections influence the operation of the Federal government by sending Senators to Washington that vote on Federal Issues, we need immediate accommodation for Federal Voter Photo ID to be mandatory for all State and Federal Elections. Further, with consideration to the severity of the real and potential damage of illegal voting, the act of voting illegally, inclusive of but not limited to, the use of an illegitimate ID for voting, is to be treated as a felony with mandatory incarceration and fines, as well as loss of voting rights for ten years.
