• Patients and pharmacy's protection from PBM's
Most people don't realize it, but their insurance card that they use to pay for prescriptions generates incredible profits for the issuers of the cards, the Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM's) How do they do this? By reimbursing your pharmacist less than it costs him to fill your prescriptions! In many cases, the reimbursement received from the PBM (plus the patient's copay) total less than the acquisition cost to the pharmacy for the drug, not to mention any consideration for pharmacy overhead expenses. The pharmacy's ability to negotiate with the PBM stops before the point at which the pharmacy breaks even on the transaction. Reimbursement for extra services provided by the pharmacy (emergency service, delivery, time spent on the phone with PBM's who won't authorize refills of a patient's prescripton, is totally absent and non-negotiable. Additionally, often after your pharmacist has spent his non-reimbursed time and effort to assure that you get your medication, the PBM will notify the patient that henceforth they will be required to use the PBM's own pharmacy, and receive their medication by mail, which results in the patient receiving their refills too late, and having heat and cold sensitive drugs exposed to harmful weather conditions. This is an impingement on patients' rights, a danger to their health and can result in the pharmacy losing core business to the PBM's, who still must rely on the neighborhood pharmacy to be around when the patient requires a new medication quickly. Call on Congress to pass legislation to assure fair reimbursement to the pharmacists who have for years, provided prompt and effective service, even in emergency situations. Stop PBM's from mandating mail-order prescriptions.

  • Bicycle Spaces and Car Spaces
Whereas most of our Country has many months and in some cases the entire year when bicycles could should be used as a significant means of transportation back and forth to: school, work, shopping malls/other stores and as a more general mode of transportation. Whereas many Americans continue to use fossil fuel cars for transportation and a significant saving could be assured by the use of bicycle power Whereas the use of a bicycle promotes health especially in weight reduction in younger populations were we have seen an alarming weight increase in part due to the semi-seditarian lifestyle of many Americans we can start to check said increases in weight and reduce them.

  • Stop The Attacking Political Ads
I don't know about you, but I am fed up with all the ads we are bombarded with during our election process. The only way these campaigning tactics have affected me is to discourage me from even voting. Let's put We The People back in our election process and demand that Congress pass a bill mandating that all candidates raise non-partisan promotional funds which can only be used to educate and inform rather than attack and demean so that ALL American citizens are allowed the freedom to choose who they wish to see in office.

  • Fluoride free Portland
Fluoride is banned in almost all European countries (except Ireland & England). Many communities here in the US have fought against it as well. I know from experience that fluoride is ineffective in strengthening tooth enamel. After 1 1/2 years of using prescription concentrated fluoride paste, my teeth made no progress. After 5 months of not using fluoride, while increasing consumption of healthier foods (ie. green vegetables, whole grains), my enamel became significantly stronger. Fluoride is a drug. By fluoridating our water, our government is not allowing Portlanders to have a choice in their own health decisions. Research has shown that fluoride is inconsequential in preventing tooth decay. Worse, it may hinder cognitive development in youth (according to a recent Harvard medical study). Please join our efforts in making Portland fluoride free!

  • Real Estate Taxes Unreal!
I inherited a house. The first half of the property tax was still on the senior citizen breaker and was around $600.00. The second installment was the total cost of the tax, about $4,500.00 minus the 1st payment, about $600.00 equaling $3939.00. What happened to the tax break the circuit breaker was covering for the first installment? All they did is deduct the first payment from the total tax. They should have cut the second installment by around half the total tax because of the senior citizen's discount. What a lovely system we have, LoL. I took care of my dying mother for 5 years and when I got my first job after she died, I'm making about $15,000.00 a year. It took me 7 months to save for a car to get to work to pay my taxes, but I had to give all my savings for a car to the tax man. And I still owe them $1,900.00. Damn it, MAN!

  • Drop all charges against Marcene Rebeck
Marcene Rebeck, a Coos County, Oregon direct-entry midwife, preschool teacher, and business owner that has helped families by assisting in home births for over 30 years with the utmost care, professionalism and wisdom, has been indicted on second degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for the death of a baby in June 2011. The baby died from sepsis in a hospital four days after Rebeck assisted in the baby’s birth at home; the family is not seeking prosecution. During the Grand Jury hearing, Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier failed to provide a complete picture of the events that took place after the baby’s birth in an attempt to slander the good name of Ms. Rebeck. We believe these charges are so completely unjustifiable and the evidence so full of doubt, that this case appears to be motivated by a greater attempt to control the natural process of childbirth and turn it into a commodity. The only acceptable action is to drop all charges against Marcene Rebeck.

  • FDA: Expose Hidden Artificial Sweeteners
I've thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of food this year. Why? Hidden artificial sweeteners. They give me headaches, stomach aches and can make me ill for days. With the ever growing list of artificial sweeteners available, it's impossible for consumers to remember all the names. Even if it were possible, consumers would need to read the ingredient label of every product they consider buying to find the artificial sweeteners. Why? The FDA doesn't require that products containing artificial sweeteners place that information prominently on the front label where consumers can easily and quickly find it.

  • Fighting To Abolish State Laws Prohibiting People from FREELY FEEDING AND SERVICING People Within...
This Petition is Written for US (The American People) , to abolish ANY and ALL State Laws in Pennsylvania, as well as ALL other 49 States that are prohibiting US(The American People) in FREELY FEEDING AND SERVICING ANY AND ALL PEOPLE WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES Who need assistance. I have personally been affected by the issue above through having dealt with being homeless for the past 11 months myslef. Having to experience struggling to make a way and feed my children has shown me first hand how these laws only hinder our people from helping those who need help. There are plenty of people that would help other people out but tend to shy away due to the laws and regulations set in place within there own communities. This only keeps our people oppressed and crime and poverty high.
