  • Leave Greenland Alone!
It's shameful that our territory (Puerto Rico) has been summarily ignored throughout the almost total decimation of their country & culture. Now the Trump administration wants to take on the responsibility of yet ANOTHER nation? RIDICULOUS!!!

  • Ice pick becoming a classified weapon
Through a hard time i have been having lately with an old friend, with him sending me threats, and pulling an ice pick out as "self dense" as he put it, toward me in a situation where i had no weapon or protection except my fiance, and my old friend had every intention that i was going to be alone. Not only did he have the ice pick but it was also concealed in his sock at first. I tried to get a protective order against him but all i could get was a 3-day protective order that i don't think he even received, and i couldn't get a longer one, nor was I taken seriously. I want this sharp object to be classified as a weapon so I can have a better piece of mind and hopefully follow up on getting a longer protective order.

  • Change the school starting date in Ohio
Every year our kids DREAD going back to school in mid August! It is not because they don't want to go back. It is because it's too soon. This year it rained and was cold almost the whole month of June. We got out at the 3rd week of May so over a month that they couldn't get out, or swim or just be outside . So by mid August. They aren't ready. Neither are parents or teachers. May/June weather is iffy and inconsistent, but August is HOT. When school starts that early, sports start earlier. July and August are very hot months for soccer, cross country, field hockey, football and other athletes to be playing/practicing so long in that heat. Sometimes DANGEROUSLY hot. Parks, splash pads, pools. Are good. 2 1/2-3 weeks in August will NOT help kids who have fallen behind over the summer pass "The Test"!! Schools could have daycares, in which high school and college kids to work and do enrichment/review work with kids. This way those kids don't have summer retention issues. They will be ready to go when school starts IN EARLY SEPTEMBER!! Even very late in August, but not August 13th, 14th!! I understand some schools in the South go earlier, but they have many more warm months, in which kids can still get outside. Ohio has about 4! Please stop taking half of one away!!

  • WeCare - an end of summer potluck, discuss and social event
Project WeCare - blankets and warm clothing, reading materials + volunteer Pre-k teachers for the border. Summer will soon be over, winter will be here. The warm weather and all the fun of being in the sun will be replaced by cold and chilly breeze. For every American, putting on warm clothings, cleaning our immediate surroundings, eating good hot meals, keeping warm under a blanket, and being comfy in winter is normal. It is part of our lives and it’s all too expected. But for those immigrant kids - separated from their parents and incarcerated at the border, the horror of being kept locked up and being made to live in the most inhumane condition, will not only make them angry and traumatized, like Isaac after being fastened and tied down to be sacrificed in the Bible, it will wipe the natural gift of a smile off their faces for the rest of their lives. Winter is a couple of weeks away and these kids are inadequately prepped for summer talk less surviving winter in the cold desert of Arizona, New Mexico, California or Texas. Time is now to tell Trump that what his administration is doing at the southern border could easily lead to child sacrifice this winter. We can’t tolerate it. We won’t allow it to happen, and we will not stand by to watch these kids freeze to death this winter. That is why I, Abbey Laurel-Smith, a 2020 US presidential candidate have decided to sponsored "WeCare winter is coming" and "WeCare to ReBuildUSAtoday" to help collect blankets warm clothing, towels, crayons, pencil, paper, household and hygiene materials for the benefit of kids incarcerated at our southern border. I am also making a humanitarian call to Pre-K teachers all over the country, to please volunteer an hour of “a visit-to-teach” these toddlers wherever they might be held, be it at the southern border or at the local USCIC office nearest to you. Let's show their world that American hospitality comes in better forms and manners. And if this be their first ever lesson in life, love and humanity, then in God’s name, let it be by us.
