• Recall LA's 15th District Councilman Joe Buscaino
Joe has allowed critical vehicular traffic lanes to be converted to mostly unused bike lanes in San Pedro, creating excessive gridlock where once there was a smooth flow of traffic. Numerous complaints from impacted citizens consistently fall on deaf ears. He does not listen to complaints and has insulated himself from virtually any contact with his constituency. Inappropriate, unwanted bike lanes recently inflicted on Playa Del Rey are being dismantled after public outcry. We deserve better, an elected representative who will serve the constituency instead of his own ends.

  • Don't Assist the Trump-Kobach Voter Suppression Commission
Donald Trump created the"Commission on Election Integrity" to legitimize his lies about voter fraud, and to advance Republican efforts to suppress the votes of people of color, young people and others. Trump named Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the leader in the national vote suppression effort, to serve as vice chair, alongside Vice President Mike Pence. Now Kobach has asked states to submit personal information on every voter to his commission. There’s every reason to suspect that Kobach aims to nationalize his “Crosscheck” program, which has been used in several states to disqualify large numbers of eligible voters on pretextual grounds. Hacking of the data also poses a massive privacy risk and, according to Michael Chertoff, secretary of Homeland Security in the Bush administration, a national security risk, as well. While some states have already stood up to Trump’s sham commission, many have agreed to partially comply. We need each and every state to reject this unprecedented request entirely.

  • Governors: Protect 800,000 from deportation. Defend DACA now!
On June 29, 2017 Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, along with 9 other Republican attorneys general from Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, as well as the Governor of Idaho, sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions calling for the Secretary of Homeland Security to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). In their ultimatum to the Trump Administration, the attorneys general present two options: get rid of DACA or they will fight to destroy it in the courts. The letter goes on to state that the Trump Administration has until September 5th, 2017 to begin the phase-out of DACA: halting the renewal and issuing of new DACA or expanded DACA permits and calling for an ultimate end to the program. If the administration does not act on the letter’s demand, the attorneys general will expand the lawsuit they used to end DAPA (a sister program meant to protect Dreamers' parents and family members) to now add a challenge to DACA. This is a serious threat for hundreds of thousands of young immigrants, and it will take all of us raising our voices together to begin to turn the tide. DACA has allowed hundreds of thousands of qualified immigrant youth to gain legal protection, go to college, and support their families and communities. While Trump vowed he would leave Dreamers and DACA alone, a handful of states have now threatened to sue to try to end it themselves. As a DACA recipient myself, I believe in our power when we stand together. A handful of cynical Republicans want to trade our dignity and respect for cheap political points, but I am hopeful that our community and our allies will have our back. The first step in this fight is to ask Governors from every state to come out publicly defending -- instead of destroying -- DACA. They can use their power to make a strong case for why DACA is worth saving, but they need to hear from us that this is a critical priority.

  • Senator Schumer: STOP the Dirty Energy Bill!
Mitch McConnell wants to push a disastrous dirty energy bill through Congress – and the vote could happen in a matter of days. This bill would keep us addicted to fossil fuels and be a disaster for people and the planet. Locking in dependence on fossil fuels for decades to come would critically undermine efforts to prevent the worst impacts of climate change. Passing a bill to accelerate approval of fracked-gas exports and give FERC more authority to rubber-stamp pipeline approvals puts us on a collision course for disaster. We need to STOP this bill and push for a rapid transition to 100% renewable energy instead. Demand that Senator Schumer uses his power as the Senate Minority Leader to stop this terrible bill.

  • Do not repeal the Michigan Firework Act of 2011
We believe the current law for fireworks should remain as is. 3 days out of the year we are allowed to celebrate our independence. There are people trying to get the act repealed and we don't agree with that. If you repeal this law, we will also lose all the revenue created by it. People will go out of state to spend their money on fireworks. It personally affects me because we should all have the right to celebrate our independence. We all try to abide by the laws for the times we can light them and safety. Please do not repeal the Act.

  • Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson: Refuse to turn over all voter data from the citizens of...
I feel concerned about the fact that voter data is being requested from all 50 states when we have not secured our election system from hacking by foreign entities. Therefore, Michigan's Secretary of State should refuse to give any voter data to the federal government.

  • Keep the Michigan Fireworks Act 256 of 2011
To show our support in favor of Governor Snyder's Firework Safety Act 256 of 2011. There is a petition going around claiming that fireworks are causing more violence and crime in Michigan. If you believe that this is not true and that someone is just trying to push their own beliefs onto us because they do not like fireworks, and if you are in favor of keeping this Act, please sign this petition to show Governor Snyder that there is more support to keep our fireworks here in Michigan.

  • Betsy Devos: Don't Delay Student Loan Protections
Since taking over the Department of Education, DeVos has rolled back important protections for students while siding with predatory companies that have a record of scamming borrowers. Most recently, she delayed an update to a rule that lets students pursue cancellation of their federal student loans if their school broke the law. That's why eighteen states and the District of Columbia, Public Citizen, and the Project on Predatory Lending at Harvard Law School have filed lawsuits against DeVos.[1] In the meantime, the Education Department is moving ahead with its ill-conceived plan to turn higher education into a Wild West where predatory for-profit colleges can get away with anything. DeVos and the Trump Administration have taken aim at two rules that hold schools accountable for cheating their students: the Gainful Employment and Borrower Defense rules. And this is all happening while defrauded students and veterans are still waiting on the loan forgiveness owed to them by law following the collapse of scam schools ITT Tech and Corinthian Colleges like Heald, Everest, and WyoTech.[2] Please join us in telling Secretary DeVos to enforce, not delay, these student loan protections!
