Tell Lawmakers to Protect Medicaid, Let the Veto StandThanks to an outpouring of support, Governor Kasich heeded the call to veto a proposal in the state budget to end enrollment in the Medicaid expansion starting in July, 2018. But lawmakers haven't given up. House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger has scheduled an unusual holiday-week legislative session for Thursday, July 6 at 9am, and has indicated there are enough votes in his chamber to override the Governor's veto (the bill received 59 of the 60 votes needed for a veto override, but some "no" votes came from conservative lawmakers who may be persuaded to flip). Senate President Larry Obhof, whose chamber passed the budget with a veto-proof margin has not scheduled a date to hold an override vote but expressed confidence his chamber would do so.209 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Innovation Ohio

Amend NDAA to End U.S. Aid to Saudi War in YemenYemen now faces the worst cholera outbreak in the world, due to the U.S.-aided Saudi-UAE war and blockade that have pushed Yemen to the brink of famine. "There's a U.S. imprint on every civilian death inside Yemen that's caused by the Saudi bombing campaign," Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut said. "The Saudis simply could not operate this bombing campaign without us. Their planes can't fly without U.S. refueling capacity." [1] Congress can address this crisis by supporting amendments on the National Defense Authorization Act to prohibit the U.S. refueling of Saudi warplanes bombing Yemen [2], to prohibit the transfer of cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia [3], and to block weapons transfers to Saudi Arabia until Saudi Arabia lifts its blockade that is pushing Yemen into famine. [4] Urge your Representative and Senators to back these amendments to attack U.S. aid for the Saudi war in Yemen by signing our petition. Stop Slavery Finally! The 13th Amendment of the US Constitution still allows slavery, creating increasing populations of caged people who provide free or near-free labor to the stockholders of the Prison Industrial Complex, the builders and profiteers of mass incarceration. As a result, American jobs are lost and job-seekers are victimized because private industry cannot compete with low-cost and unpaid labor.378 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Merelyn Bates-Mims

Gov Brown/CA Legislature: Upgrade Cap and Trade. Pass SB775Senate Bill 775 needs our support to counter an alternative proposal from Big Oil that does nothing to improve cap and trade, keeping the carbon price very low for years. WHAT WE NEED: A HIGH PRICE COLLAR TO PRICE CARBON with a floor of $60 and a ceiling of $120/ton of CO2 by 2030 AN END TO OFFSETS that allow local pollution to continue AN END TO FREE POLLUTION ALLOWANCES A CLIMATE DIVIDEND that returns revenue to every CA resident TO DEAL WITH SURPLUS ALLOWANCES from the current program to not undermine the post-2020 program WITH ACCELERATION OF RENEWABLE POWER in the state, as Community Choice Energy takes off county by county, along with technological advances in energy storage and in small wind, like PRIMO WIND out of San Diego, we are now primed as a state to transition to a CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY and lead the rest of the US. SB775 helps move that crucial path forward. SB 775 would provide the mechanism to effectively bring about a market-driven transition to clean energy by amending California’s cap and trade system to establish a predictable, steadily rising price on fossil fuels with corresponding dividends returned to all adult residents. That would create society wide demand for green energy technology creating new jobs and industries and make clean energy a driving force of our economy. SB775 was authored by State Senator Bob Wieckowkski (D-Fremont/10th district, including parts of Alameda/Santa Clara counties), chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. SB775 is supported by groups that include the following: Citizens Climate Lobby 350 Bay Area San Diego 350 SoCal350 Union of Concerned Scientists Physicians for Social Responsibility SF Californians for a Carbon Tax Friends of the Earth organizations and economists at these universities: Stanford, Colorado State and Duke. Chris Christie's Unlawful Takeover Of Passaic Valley Sewerage CommissionMy personal story is based on my employee history and my dedication to my work. With a spotless record, I was removed for political reasons by a reckless Governor and the promise of a Judgeship to the then Director Wayne Forest for moving on a plan to remove 200 employees for no reason at the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Campbell

Governor Malloy: We will NOT Tolerate Your Ongoing Budget Cuts To the Intellectual & Developmenta...Two years ago, we took on Governor Malloy with a petition of over 15,000 signatures (in a month's time) to speak on behalf of the IDD community due to the never ending budget cuts for with the greatest need. It's time to take on Hartford and the legislators and Governor. The fiscal year closed without a budget, and due to the pending crisis, the control is left with Governor Malloy. We know he has no problem cutting the IDD as he has done every year since taking office. Here are the FACTS: FACT: Last year, DDS spent an astounding $45 million on overtime and more than $96 million to care for less than 270 people at Southbury Training School. This is a state run union facility with a population that had by 40% since 2010. (ie. direct-care worker with a base salary of $60,225, took in an additional $136,337 in overtime alone. Including fringe benefits, her compensation was $237,886.). By simply controlling OT and shifting those funds, millions can be redirected back into the funding for the IDD community! FACT: We need legislators to vote on a budget that funds Day & Employment Services for New Graduates and that does not eliminate Community First Choice. FACT: Governor Malloy will cut funding from community supports for people with IDD who are already receiving services in the community by more than $44 million this year alone! FACT: At the same time that key programs that serve our children receive double digit cuts (behavioral services- 11%; employment and day- 10%; rent subsidies- almost 13%), State employees at DDS are cut by only 2 percent. The never ending imbalance of fiscal irresponsibility. Its time to have a voice, a loud one and mobilize this community to make it clear that the July 18th budget cannot afford ANY MORE CUTS for the IDD community. If you care, know someone who supports this community, has a family member who is IDD, please sign this petition and pass it on. We understand there are many needs in the state. We understand the financial situation is in crisis. We understand we all have to do our part. We DON"T understand the fiscal irresponsibility serving the IDD. July 18th is the next budget meeting. We urgently need your support (anyone can sign the petition). Thank you!1,808 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Nancy Mastroianni

Shut Down Trump's Twitter AccountAs a U.S. cItizen and the father of a young daughter, I find the attacks coming from Donald Trump's Twitter account abhorrent. This is further compounded by the fact that as President his postings get significant media attention. Politics aside he is setting a poor example for the youth of our society about civility and is demonstrating sexist bahavior.918 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Arthur Belton
