Another loss for veterans and another win for the military industrial complex? My family has many veterans who have been physically and psychologically harmed by the recent wars, and they already are not receiving proper care. Please don't make it worse.56 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tim Kubal

Demand Congressional debate on escalation against ISILI am concerned about the open-ended nature of this action. We need more than the decision by the executive branch before we again commit resources to a military action in the Middle East. The track record of the US in these types of interventions is disastrous, for both the US and the Middle East. It is time the American people through their elected officials become active participants in these decisions.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patricia James

Convention to Establish and Implement a World Peace PlanThe world keeps doing the same actions to try to react to wars and terrorism in efforts to stop or contain them – with only minimal success. The old ways of responding to international problems and terrorism are not working. The only way to control wayward nations or groups that continue to create situations that result in military actions that cause death, destruction, and skyrocketing costs to the world’s peoples is to develop and enforce the World Peace Plan (WPP) outlined above. Note that we currently have been slowly evolving toward approaching international problems through coalitions, but we need to develop a permanent framework for all such action coalitions that include all the nations (not just one or two principle nations) and not have to reinvent a coalition for every separate issue that appears in the world. Success of such interventions will only develop over time as rogue nation/group after rogue nation/group is contained or wiped out through use of these coalitions. Once rogue leaders come to recognize that they will not be able to circumvent the international World Peace Plan (coalition), they will cease to invade other countries, thus reducing/removing major threats to world peace. In other words, peace will not magically and instantaneously appear, but the WPP will provide standard enforceable responses that will, over time, result in a more peaceful planet.42 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christy Besozzi

Stop ISIS -- Peacefully!I am a citizen journalist who has reported from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the West Bank. I am writing a book about my experiences and blogging at www.LivingLargeInLimbo.com. I am appalled that the President is moving toward military reengagement without a full, public airing of the non-military options. While I applaud the humanitarian aid the U.S. has provided for Syrian and Iraqi refugees, I’m not convinced more troops in Iraq, more weapons to Syria’s rebels, and more air strikes will wipe out ISIS or avoid increased military intervention. I’ve met the people whose lives and families are shattered by my country’s rush to war. Let’s prevent more casualties on America’s conscience!5,765 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Kelly Hayes-Raitt

Support the US Friends of the Soviet People! Abolish NATO!I am affected by this issue every day because the services of the people are cut to pay for this expensive NATO operation. This money can rebuild our infrastructure, provide a state of the art learning environment for our children, fund university education, provide free health care, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid benefits, provide funds to restore our parks and recreation areas, and most of all, provide alternative thinking about how to resolve conflicts in our world. That's why I started this petition to ABOLISH NATO!28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Hank Glocklin

Obama Negotiate Honestly With Putin Instead of Pushing Him Toward Global Thermonuclear War!As stated, Obama's recklessness unnecessarily subjects the entire world to the real possibility of nuclear war. We demand that Obama stop escalating the situation toward war, and begin honest negotiations and diplomacy with Russia.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gregory Slater

The settlements are illegal. It's time to say so.Sunday's land-grab of almost 1000 acres in the West Bank is illegal under international treaties that Israel has signed, and--as Israel's strongest ally and closest friend--the US needs to say so. President Obama, the subtle condemnations aren't working. It's time to make it plain to the Israeli government that continued settlement expansion isn't just an obstacle to peace, it's against American interests, American policy, and the Geneva Convention.26 of 100 SignaturesCreated by J Street

Request for the Early Release of Uyghur linguist Abduweli AyupWe wish to recognize Abduweli's contribution to the cause of linguistic and human rights, specifically, the right of members of ethnic minorities to the intergenerational transmission of language and culture. Like Abduweli, we believe that members of ethnic minorities have the right to teach their language, and that ethnic minority children have the right to receive an education in their native language.113 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Robert Wilson

President Obama: support a nuclear weapons-free world, as promisedBack in the Cold War days, people were terrified that there would be a nuclear war. Guess what? The danger is still here and it is growing. We are living on borrowed time. Over the next few weeks, President Obama will be making a decision about whether the United States will participate in a historic summit on nuclear weapons that will include delegations from countries around the globe. In 2009 and several times since, President Obama has said that America is committed "to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons.” But since actions speak louder than words, this petition asks Obama to be a leader in reducing the danger of nuclear weapons. There are more than 16,000 nuclear warheads still left in the world, most of them much more powerful than the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 93% are in the arsenals of the US and Russia. For decades we've been told that we don't have to worry about them--that the US and Russia would never get into a war. It's hard to take those assurances seriously in light of the Ukraine crisis where Russian and U.S. allies are fighting a hot war in the middle of Europe. Even if the US and Russia don't stumble into a war through some crisis like Ukraine, there is always the danger of an accident triggering a nuclear conflict. Plus, recent research has shown that even a very "limited" war, such as between India and Pakistan, involving less than 1% of the world's nuclear arsenals, would trigger global climate disruption, cut food production across the world and lead to a "nuclear famine" that would put 2 billion people at risk. Fortunately, a new, global movement is underway to ban nuclear weapons on the basis of their unacceptable humanitarian impacts. In February, 2014, representatives of 146 nations, 3/4 of the world, met in Mexico to discuss what will happen if these weapons are used and what we can do to prevent that. But the United States BOYCOTTED the meeting! The well-entrenched military-industrial complex plans to spend a trillion dollars over the next 30 years on “modernizing” the American arsenal. There will be a follow-up Humanitarian Impact Conference this December, in Vienna. This time, the U.S. should take the high road, constructively attend, and provide leadership to this urgent campaign to rid the world of the greatest threat to human survival.6,791 of 7,000 SignaturesCreated by Physicians for Social Responsibility

Don’t rush into endless war in Iraq & SyriaWe may be on the verge of another costly, open-ended war in the Middle East. President Obama has authorized surveillance flights over Syria. The New York Times called the surveillance flights “a significant step toward direct American military action in Syria.”[1] Obama Administration officials have suggested that U.S. airstrikes against “Islamic State” fighters in Iraq could expand to attacks against “Islamic State” fighters in Syria. [2] But we have a way to try to slow expansion of the US military campaign—and to keep us from getting entangled in another endless war. In July, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H. Con. Res. 105, stating that Congressional authorization must precede any “sustained combat mission” in Iraq. By insisting now that the President come to them before expanding the use of force - as required by the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution - Congress can slow the rush to war, creating space for diplomatic and political efforts to address the underlying causes of the war. If Congress restricts any authorization of force with a time limit, we will be less likely to find ourselves in another endless war. [4] Tell President Obama and Congress that there must be no blank check to expand airstrikes in Iraq or expand airstrikes into Syria. Sign our petition to help prevent another rush to endless war.
