• Keep Nuclear Options Withheld [KNOW] Petition
The ability to unleash nuclear weapons is the ability to initiate a causal reaction in which billions of people could die, one that would threaten the very existence of the world as we know it. The initial blasts would kill indiscriminately, and the fallout from radiation would kill infinitely more. We need only look to our own history for the lesson of these weapons: they possess far greater power than any man should ever yield. The wounds of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are far from healed, their scars a eulogy for this very day. Moreover, we are not talking about any man - we are talking about Donald J. Trump: a man who has demonstrated, with stunning consistency, a complete and total shutdown of critical thinking capacities. A bipartisan team of mental health professionals recently deemed his behavior "paranoid" and "delusional" (1). Even members of his own party have expressed their concern for his inability to faithfully execute the duties of the office of the Presidency. At the same time, the North Korean threat has increased significantly. In addition to the devastation they would bring to our friends and families in South Korea, their capabilities now reportedly include striking the United States at home. The President's foolish and unnecessary escalation of tensions on the Korean peninsula speaks volumes to his failure to comprehend the magnitude of our times. We have placed the greatest existential threat the human race has ever known in the hands of a man unfit to serve. Now, more than ever, we need strength from the rest of our elected officials, that they may stand tall for the American People - and in doing so, commit themselves to the defense of life itself. Let us honor our veterans and the People of Nagasaki and Hiroshima on this somber day; let us learn the lessons of our past and pledge to protect humanity from the atrocities of nuclear war. We demand that Congress execute an emergency measure to curtail the President's access to any and all nuclear weaponry or other weapons of mass destruction. Let it be resolved that any use of such meteriel requires the prior consent of 2/3 of the Senate. 1. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world-0/donald-trump-dangerous-mental-illness-yale-psychiatrist-conference-us-president-unfit-james-gartner-a7694316.html

  • Twitter: Suspend Trump's Account Before it's Too Late
The Whitehouse seems unable to stop Trump's reckless tweets that threaten to bring the world into nuclear war. CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey has said that Trump's tweets keep him accountable, but according to strategic analysts they are now seen as the Leader's Word by both North Korea and US allies alike. We call on Twitter to act on behalf of all world citizens and immediately and urgently suspend Trump's account before any more incendiary tweets reach Pyongyang.

  • Shut His Twitter Down!
It's moved beyond funny, outrageous or unbelievable. The people of the United States have a mentally unstable president who is surrounded by sycophants unable to moderate his social-media use. Since Citizens United gave corporations the same right to affect politics as people, we demand that corporations also share in the responsibility to be good citizens. Show some corporate leadership, Twitter, and close down @realDonaldTrump!

  • Stop the insanity. Don't provoke war with North Korea
Donald Trump is making us all more unsafe with every war-mongering comment, tweet, and threat. His rhetoric threatening North Korea with "fire and fury" is exacerbating a dangerous situation, putting the people of Guam--and everyone around the world--in grave danger. While a nuclear North Korea is a real concern, the answer must be diplomacy-first, not a rush to a potentially devastating nuclear war. The American people say "no" to war with North Korea.

  • Protect the Endangered Species Act
The Endangered Species Act is helping to save more than 1,600 U.S. plants, fish, and animal species from extinction so they will continue to be a part of our children's and grandchildren's worlds. This benchmark conservation law has saved the bald eagle, gray whale, grizzly bear, and many others and has a whopping 99 percent success record at preventing the extinction of listed species. In spite of the success of this law and the urgent need for the protections it provides, Congress has taken aim at it with more than two dozen pieces of legislation that would weaken it. Bills that would transfer Endangered Species Act listing decisions from scientists to politicians, legislatively delist wolves, and block courts from reviewing these actions.

  • Jerry Brown: Defy Trump and Protect our Children from Pesticides
After meeting with Dow Chemical, Trump's EPA turned its back on our children and reversed its decision to ban the dangerous pesticide, chlorpyrifos. Listed as a neurotoxin by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this potent chemical has been connected to permanent and lasting brain damage, autism, ADHD, declines in IQ and reduced cognitive function in young kids whose mothers were exposed during pregnancy. Public health experts from Harvard and Mt. Sinai Hospital are seeing these health issues on the rise among children, calling it a “silent pandemic.” More than 1 million pounds of this chemical is applied in California every year on crops like corn, soy, almonds, oranges and grapes, so a California ban would send a strong message to the rest of the country. Jerry Brown has the chance to lead where Trump has failed. We need him to prioritize the health of our children before this brain-harming pesticide and Dow Chemical’s profits.

  • KEEP THE AMERICAN MEDIA FREE- STOP TRUMP TV
We need the American free press to tell us the facts. We do not want Sinclair Broadcasting to spread Trump-o-ganda...we will not be distracted or brainwashed. Freedom of the press is to inform the citizens. Sinclair's "must shows" forcing local news to broadcast alternative facts must be stopped!

  • Mitch McConnell: Repeal the Gun Violence Research Ban
Gun violence has become a public health crisis in America. In 1996, after lobbying by the NRA, Congress passed a ban on gun violence research. In 2015 a bill was introduced in the US House of Representatives to reverse this ban but the bill was never voted on. The US Senate has never attempted to address the ban on gun violence research. Scientists use research to make cars and other products safer as well as identify cancer risks associated with products on the market. Research on gun violence in America must be allowed in order to identify ways to promote gun safety.
