• Tell Kelly Gonez: Reject The Billionaire and Trump Backer Money
Kelly Gonez is running for school board and one of Trump’s biggest backers in California along with a host of billionaires are pumping money into his campaign. In fact Hedge Clippers, a group dedicated to tracking Wall Street influence and donations, just release a report about how much Wall Street money is flowing into the school board race As a teacher in this district, I’m horrified that these billionaire special interest groups are influencing this election. These are people who’ve never sent their kids to our schools, but because they have so much money, they get to come in and try to confuse the voters about who supports public education. In addition to one of Trump’s top donors in CA, Gonez' donors include a board member for the right-wing Cato Institute who used to help fund a Betsy DeVos’ linked anti-public education PAC. From the Walmart heirs, to New York finance billionaires, people who’ve never been to our schools are trying to influence the election. These are people who want to bring the DeVos and Trump agenda to California. The Trump/DeVos/Gonez agenda would undermine public education here in LA. These types of extremists don’t belong in LA politics. What’s worse is some of these are direct contributions that Gonez can give back. Others are dark money, funneled through PACS and associations. Kelly Gonez needs to reject this money. Any direct contributions she should publicly return and she should publicly condemn any independent spending by any special interest billionaires. Their money is poisoning Los Angeles and our country. Join me in calling on Gonez to stop the dirty attacks funded by the billionaire and run a clean race. It’s what the voters of LA deserve.

  • Do_Not_Repeal_Obamacare
Congress has narrowly passed the decision to repeal Obamacare, and now the Senate will pass or deny that decision. As a member of the Senate, I am urging Lisa Murkowski to stop this repeal. I am a user of the healthcare system, and do not wish to lose coverage, as such a loss would be detrimental to my long-term health and livelihood if I were to be injured. If Congress wants to show that this healthcare plan is better, than they can lead by example by using it themselves.

  • Save Our Insurance
Trumpcare, the AHCA, threatens the healthcare of millions of people with Pre-Existing Conditions and will eliminate healthcare coverage for over 24 Million people. The Affordable Care Act can be made stronger by bipartisan Congressional action to improve the Individual Marketplaces.

  • Jeff Flake - Vote NO on Trumpcare!
The older pay more, the coverage is worse, the rich get a tax break. People need the preventive care offered by the ACA. Trumpcare abandons those guarantees. It's a bad bill.

  • HELP! HELP! Senator Flake
As a small business owner and someone past middle age, I won't be able to insure myself and my daughter when the premiums increase. A nation of sick people who can't work is not cost effective.

  • Vote No in Senate on Repeal of ACA
Dear Senator: Coverage for people with pre-existing conditions: Is this not a reason to keep the law in place?" Pregnancy is a pre-existing conditon. What about impotence? Women seem to be a major target in repealing the ACA (Obamacare). It is not perfect, and insurance and pharmeceutical companies got a larger piece of the pie than necessary. However, the House's repeal means less coverage and potentially more foreclosures, among other problems. Senators and Representatives have healthcare for life. Why can't we repeal that? We urge you to vote no on the HB repeal.

  • Senator Flake: Oppose Trumpcare 2.0
I recently got major surgery which my doctor told me was necessary to prevent cancer. I have insurance only because of the Affordable Care Act. Due to a pre-existing condition, I have never been able to get insurance coverage before, so the Affordable Care Act effectively prevented me from becoming a cancer patient.

  • I Will Repeal and Replace You in the Election
Trump and all but 20 Republicans just pushed through an awful bill that would strip healthcare coverage from 10s of millions of Americans, scrap protections for the most vulnerable, and cost Americans thousands more per year while sopping more money on the wealthy. ADA is making a list, checking it twice, and the naughty will be punished. Join us is letting them know that you will Repeal and Replace them in 2018.

  • MSNBC President: Preserve Progressive News Format
The election of Donald Trump has in part been seen as a failure of the news media. There has never been a more critical time for Americans to learn the truth about his blatant conflicts of interest, his dangerous foreign policy, his willful ignorance about government, and the truth about his campaign's role in the Russian hacking of our election. I cannot fulfill my role as an informed citizen participating in making our government serve the people rather than the rich and the corporations without being informed about domestic and foreign policy. MSNBC is my primary source of being so informed.

  • Tacoma City Council: Protect Undocumented Immigrants #HereToStay
Tacoma City Council, 1. Adopt a Sanctuary City Resolution: Codify into Tacoma City ordinance that police officers will not act as defacto immigration agents, that City employees refrain from performing duties from the Department of Homeland Security, and that the City will not cooperate or assist with any unconstitutional or illegal registration or surveillance programs targeted at any immigrants in Tacoma. 2. Continue to block any expansion of the Northwest Detention Center or any private correctional facilities across the City of Tacoma. If necessary, legislate changes to the City code to ensure this is enforced. With Trump’s expansion to the deportation machine, our City needs to be proactive to prevent the detention of undocumented immigrants. 3. Create a legal defense fund for undocumented immigrants who currently do not have a right to legal representation in immigration proceedings even though the federal government is legally represented throughout the process. Legal representation will ensure that immigrants are 10.5 times more likely to remain in their community. 4. Initiate the Immigrant and Refugee Task Force to address issues facing undocumented immigrants living and working in our City. This task force should include include diverse representation of immigrants, undocumented immigrants, refugees, and LGBTQ, labor, educators, faith, and ally community leaders.
