• We Call for an Independent Investigation of 2017 Election-Interference
This startling chain of events developed last week: Devin Nunes, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, cancelled a hearing at which Sally Yates was scheduled to testify, along with James Clapper and John Brennan. Even before the cancellation, Trump Administration lawyers tried to block her appearance. As committee member Rep. Jim Himes stated in the New Yorker: “Any blocking of anyone or anything simply stokes suspicion of what the Administration might be hiding." In a follow-up, Sean Spicer gave this statement: “The White House has taken no action to prevent Sally Yates from testifying and the Department of Justice specifically told her that it would not stop her.” But Spicer's statement directly contradicts correspondence between Yates’s attorney and the Administration, which was published in the Washington Post. Clearly the current investigation is not viable with Nunes at the helm, deliberately intervening in the collection of key information. The administration has given a dishonest portrayal to the public. We demand a special committee.

  • Reject the Budget
The U.S. military is already the strongest in the world - bar none. We spend more on defense than what the next seven nations spend on defense combined. We cannot continue to bankrupt our domestic communities or diplomacy programs to pay for war.

  • Fund the EPA
With the EPA already grossly underfunded, Trump's proposed cuts to reduce their budget by 31%, leaving the agency only 5.7 billion dollars.

  • Reject permanent austerity for NC that locks in tax breaks for millionaires
North Carolina is currently struggling to make sure every child has a textbook, every working person has access to affordable healthcare, and that every older North Carolinian can get support for their health and nutritional needs, but there isn’t enough money to go around. The North Carolina Senate wants to make this state of affairs permanent. They have passed a proposal to cap the state income tax rate in the state Constitution so that they can continue to give millionaires a tax break, while our communities struggle to meet basic needs. We need your signature to tell the House that regular North Carolinians reject this approach to fiscal austerity, and they must do the same.

  • Stop the Arkansas Mass Executions
I have worked with some of the men scheduled to be executed. They were part of a creative writing workshop I led from May to October of 2016. I acknowledge they committed heinous crimes in the past, and I grieve for the families of their victims, but there is NOTHING to be gained by the state's killing of them.

  • Call for the expulsion of U.S. Rep. Nunes
As a resident of California, Rep. Nunes continues to act against the favor of his California constituents in addition to the country as a whole. I find his behavior to be nothing less than a disgrace to his position, the constitution, and the stability of the democracy that his reprehensible actions immediately threaten. He has no place in our government.

  • Override trump's climate denial policy
I have had enough of an Administration that denies the facts and the danger of climate change. The evidence is clear and the Guardian indicates that this Trump government even has the gall of deleting the data points and facts in their own statistics. Scary enough for you? This is perhaps like saying Nazis didn't kill the Jews. The data points are being deleted! This is massive corruption and misleading of the American people and the world! We want to continue to keep the policies in place to stop the escalation of climate change and continue to install more measures. Already in South Carolina we have "dead" rivers uninhabitable by all living things, unable to be used by human and animal consumption. Our drinking water is in danger. Our tender ecosystem is in danger. Do any of you want to leave a clean planet for our children? Or does money at the expense of our lives seem more important? Do the right thing!

Corporations need to pay their fair share of taxes, not create tax loopholes or hoard money in off shore accounts. America needs infrastructure overhaul and decent people to run our government, not greedy politicians emboldened to corporations.

  • Sen. Corman: We want an education townhall
Public Education Advocates of the PA 34th senate district want an opportunity to ask Sen. Corman questions about his positions on public education. We want the town hall to be a time when working people can attend in a location that can accommodate as many constituents who want to attend.
