• Demand Single Payer Healthcare or Medicare For All
It's time to shut the insurance industry down and go to a Medicare-for-all-style system. Almost every developed country except the United States has some version of a single-payer system.

  • Congress: Stop Trump from building his border wall.
Dear Friends, Trump has only held public office for a little over a month, yet he has already started to plan in great detail one of his disastrous policies: building a wall between the US and Mexico. America has been built on the handwork of immigrants, who brought their styles, customs, and religions into our country. We have thrived off welcoming diversity into our nation, and we should not be willing to give up these values we cherish most strongly. We are a melting pot, and that is what keeps our nation together. What makes America great, is not only its economy, but it's acceptance towards those who are struggling all around the world, and working together with other countries to make this world a more peaceful and safe place. We cannot solve the worlds problems on our own. We need other countries' support in order to achieve global goals. We need to stand up for our values and prevent Trump from building a wall separating us from Mexico. Trump's proposal to build a wall not only goes against our Constitution, but it goes against humanity. Practically everyone living in the US today has ancestors who immigrated from other parts of the world. Donald Trump wouldn't be in our country right now if his grandfather Friedrick Trumpf never emigrated from Germany. Melania Trump wouldn't be here if it weren't for her modeling. What makes certain backgrounds more accepting than others? I am asking everyone of you to do your part to prevent Trump from following through on his measures. Congress needs to do their part by refusing to provide Trump with the funds he needs to make this disastrous project possible. However, in order for that to happen, citizens like me and you need to do our part by signing this petition and spreading the word to make sure others sign it as well. Donald Trump claims he is for the people, so let's prove to him a large majority of our people do not believe in the specific measures he is taking. America needs bridges, not walls, and we are going to eventually make this happen. I may be only 14, but I am doing my part to help the world and make it a better place. We have a voice, and if we all work together, no one can silence it. I would appreciate if you could sign the petition, and share it with your friends. Thank you.

  • Stop the Plundering of Estates by Court-Appointed Lawyers in Unwarranted Court-Ordered Guardianships
Court-appointed guardianship does the exact opposite of what it says it does. It is plundering the estate of my mother without oversight. There are layers of court-appointed lawyers appointed as her guardian charging exorbitant fees that we are forced to pay because a judge says we must. It is a corrupt system that is legal. She has no access to her social security or retirement money.

  • Immediate Clinic: Stop Supporting Breitbart's Hate
A social media campaign called "Sleeping Giants" led more than 1,000 companies to stop advertising on the white nationalist website Breitbart.com. Virtually every major corporation worldwide has blocked their ads from appearing on Breitbart. Breitbart is the white nationalist website formerly run by Trump adviser Steve Bannon. It's racist, sexist, and spreads hate against Muslims. Breitbart regularly has headlines like "Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy" and "The Confederate flag proclaims a glorious heritage." It is way outside of the American mainstream, even in these polarizing times. It's well past time for Immediate Clinic to stop supporting hate. Immediate Clinic should remove their ads from Breitbart.com and adopt a policy to ban advertising on any website that promotes hate.

Breitbart News is one of the main engines of disinformation that propelled Trump to victory. The head of Breitbart News, Steve Bannon, is now the White House chief strategist. Breitbart relies on Facebook to gather information, target users, and disseminate it's fake news.

  • STOP H.R. 1313 - genetic collection and invasion of privacy
This is the first move to start legitimizing the collection of genetic data on American citizens. This is a repeat of the early 1920s Eugenics' movement which sought to identify races for purposes of categorizing them as pre-determination for treatment and social consideration. It is opposed by the American Society of Human Genetics which states "this bill would fundamentally undermine the privacy provisions of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)."

  • Ask your Rep. to Vote NO on House Bill 610 Which Could Affect Kids With Disabilities
The U.S. House of Representatives has introduced Bill 610. This bill will effectively start the school voucher system to be used by children ages 5 to 17, and starts the de-funding process of public schools. The bill will eliminate the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESSA) of 1965 which is the nation's educational law and provides equal opportunity in education. It is a comprehensive program that covers programs for struggling learners, AP classes, ESL classes, classes for minorities such as Native Americans, Rural Education, Education for the Homeless, School Safety (Gun-Free schools), Monitoring and Compliance and Federal Accountability Programs. The bill also abolishes the Nutritional Act of 2012 (No Hungry Kids Act) which provides nutritional standards in school breakfast and lunch. For our most vulnerable, this may be the ONLY nutritious food they have in a day. The bill has no wording whatsoever protecting special needs kids, no mention of IDEA and FAPE. Some things the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESSA) of 1965 does for Children with Disabilities: -ensures access to the general education curriculum -ensures access to accommodations on assessments -ensures concepts of Universal Design for Learning -includes provisions that require local education agencies to provide evidence-based interventions in schools with consistently under-performing subgroups -requires states in Title I plans to address how they will improve conditions for learning including reducing incidents of bullying and harassment in schools, overuse of discipline practices and reduce the use of aversive behavioral interventions (such as restraints and seclusion). Please call your representative and ask him/her to vote NO on House Bill 610 (HR 610) introduced by three Republican reps. Please copy and paste this post (rather than hitting "share") so it isn't limited to the friends we have in common. Thanks for advocating on behalf of our nation's youth and their families. • 1 Million Signatures to protect the Mesoamerican Reef
The Mesoamerican Reef is located in the Caribbean Sea and touches the coasts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. As the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, it stretches nearly 1000 km from the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula down through the Honduran Bay Islands, and provides a home to hundreds of fish species, marine turtles, and sharks. On June 5 of 2017 we will celebrate 20 years of the Tulum Declaration, by which the heads of state of the four countries, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras, committed to promote the conservation of the Mesoamerican Reef System (MAR) through its sustainable use, thereby contributing to the wellbeing of present and future generations. Over the past 20 years, the four countries have taken important steps, as envisioned. Now, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras need to take their commitment to the reef a step further. Currently, four threats drastically hurt the health of the MAR: discharge of effluents and contaminants, including sewage; unsustainable coastal development, including mangrove destruction; chronic pressure on fisheries and insufficient enforcement, and climate change impacts on the reef. To address these threats, the Governments of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras must pledge to protect the reef through renewing the commitment to the Tulum Declaration and take the following actions to ensure the health of the reef and the people that depend on it: 1. Follow Mexico’s lead in putting the MAR ecosystem waters completely off limits to oil exploration and extraction. 2. Support municipalities in developing and maintaining the infrastructure needed to effectively treat sewage to levels agreed to in the Cartagena Convention, which should be ratified and implemented by all 4 countries. 3. Promote and facilitate the creation and improved enforcement of fish replenishment areas. 4. Protect blue carbon sinks: mangroves and sea grasses, and explore potential new financing mechanisms based on blue carbon. These actions will preserve the resources and natural processes that are the basis for propelling the Blue Economy as the foundation for development of the four countries and the region. Ask the heads of state of the four countries to renew the commitment to the Tulum Declaration and carry out these critical actions.
