Pennsylvania, my home state, is considered ground zero for gerrymandering of states across the country. It would be fitting to start the campaign to help diminish its negative impact on what should be a fair and equal election process for all voting citizens across the country.

As a Veteran, I realize how much courage it must take to give candid, honest tactical, and ethical advice to a commander, and more so in the commander in chief. President Trump seems to be "smart" about not paying taxes and claims to be a billionaire, but these frequent trips to Mar-a-lago with his staff are too expensive. If he chooses to go, he should personally foot the bill.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives and Senate have plans to cut Medicare and Medicaid and to repeal coverage for 20 million Americans who are covered by the Affordable Care Act. Even some Democrats are on record to make cuts to these vital public healthcare programs. Essentially, Republicans in Congress are telling working families, senior citizens, and the poor that tax cuts for billionaires and millionaires are more important than providing a health care safety net for our most vulnerable. But did you know that members of Congress get great taxpayer funded healthcare? In fact, they get one of the best health care plans in the world. It strikes us as the height of hypocrisy to be accepting government-provided, taxpayer-subsidized health insurance while denying seniors, the disabled, and the poor the basic coverage that the ACA, Medicare, and Medicaid provide. That’s why we’re circulating this petition demanding that members of Congress who vote to cut the ACA, Medicare, and Medicaid stop accepting taxpayer-subsidized health insurance for themselves. If they believe our most vulnerable citizens should buy insurance on the corporate, for-profit market, shouldn’t they do the same? Sign the petition. Tell Congress: If you don’t believe in publicly-funded health coverage, don’t accept it.

Now we know why the Republican party wouldn't wait to confirm Pruitt, until after requested emails were released . They clearly show he is corrupt and will not be serving the public or protecting the environment. Scott Pruitt is another huge blight on the Trump administration and Republican party. Impeach him now!

The actions of this administration are deeply troubling, and it is imperative that legislators of both parties resist this blatant abuse of power.

I am deeply alarmed by what happened today, with respected news media being shut out of a White House briefing because of presidential pique. Even though Thomas Jefferson was frequently irritated by press coverage, he understood that a free press was more important even than government, and, given the choice, he would choose the press.

Americans of all political stripes can agree that our government should make decisions to serve us -- not deep-pocketed special interests. That duty is especially important for the Attorney General, who’s charged with protecting our civil rights and impartially enforcing our laws. But Attorney General Jeff Sessions has just directed the Department of Justice to reverse its previous decision and continue to use private prisons, which have come under fire from civil rights activists for human rights abuses and a lack of public oversight. Why? Just follow the money. Throughout his career, Sessions has benefitted from huge sums of political spending by private prison companies. And that industry made massive investments in Donald Trump’s presidential campaign -- one firm, the GEO Group, spent $100,000 to elect Trump through a SuperPAC, then gave $250,000 to his inauguration. This week, their investments paid off -- private prison stock prices have skyrocketed since Trump’s election, and increased even further since Sessions issued his directive. Sessions is also driving Trump’s promised ramping up of immigration enforcement, which will put even more undocumented people into immigration detention facilities and lining the private prison industry’s pockets even further. The private prison industry’s interests run directly counter to those of the American people -- majorities of Americans support criminal justice reform, but companies like the Corrections Corporation of America lobby for longer, harsher sentences which deliver huge profits for them. Private prisons are notorious for cutting corners, human rights abuses, and lack of public accountability. They’re the last industry that our government should be doing special favors for. Add your name and tell Attorney General Sessions to prove that his Department of Justice isn’t for sale to the highest bidder by reinstating the plan to end its use of private prisons.
