After receiving calls from individuals who said that they would be “uncomfortable” voting at the Islamic Center of Boca Raton (ICBR), and others who expressed plans to impede voting by calling in bomb threats to the center on Election Day, Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher stripped the ICBR of its status as a poll site. Rather than report the threats or stand strong against bigotry, Susan Bucher instead caved to these anti-Muslim groups and individuals and denied the ICBR community the ability to participate in the most basic function of democracy--the casting of ballots. There are about 80 churches and five synagogues assigned as polling stations in Palm Beach County, but the ICBR is the sole house of worship whose status as a poll site has been revoked. Bigotry should not be codified in policy, and no one should be denied the right to participate in our democracy at any level because of their religion. Susan Bucher must immediately reverse her decision and restore the ICBR's status as a poll site.

The only reference to nuclear issues is the "finger on the button." Yet we are about to spend one trillion dollars on modernizing our nuclear arsenal. The dangers of a nuclear accident, of nuclear waste, and of using nuclear weapons in a conflict are very real. The Doomesday Clock, that symbol of how close we are to that danger is now set at 3 minutes to midnight. Members of the media -- specifically those who interview or moderate the debates -- must question the candidates on nuclear issues.

Democrats are furious with Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz following WikiLeaks' release of documents showing Democratic National Committee officials under her leadership "conspiring to sabotage the campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders," as the New York Times put it. [1] Sanders' supporters are furious that what they long suspected has been proven true. Democrats who didn't support Sanders are furious that the scandal has overshadowed the beginning of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. We are very disappointed to hear that SCT is seeking to cut bus routes, one in particular, the S59. It's not right or fair to those in the community who solely depend on public transportation for their work and livelihoods. The bus company can' t do this to people who rely on the buses. There will be a fight to keep our needed SCT bus routes. Another bus that we have heard that will get cut is the 2B and others as well...

This is an insult and another unfair burden to the workers of the post office and to organized labor. America needs the expansion of its ability to process and deliver the mail.

We have many wonderful festivals, music, art and otherwise here in Colorado, all for the purpose of uplifting spirits, embracing a leave-no-trace policy and spreading goodness to others. Allowing the gathering of the Juggalos is a step in the wrong direction for our state and our city! We don't need empty bottles of Fargo littering our beautiful city and surrounding mountainous areas. Hillary Clinton has chosen Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate. As a Senator, Kaine has been adamant that the Obama Administration comply with the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution in undertaking military action in Syria, by getting an authorization for the use of military force from Congress. [1] Michele Flournoy, whom some believe to be Hillary Clinton's most likely nominee for Secretary of Defense, has advocated for the direct use of U.S. troops to bring about regime change in Syria. [2] But so far Flournoy hasn't clarified whether she believes that President Clinton would need authorization for the use of military force from Congress to carry out Flournoy's plan. The May 5, 2016 email exchange between Amy Darcey and Brad Marshall indicated desire to exploit and encourage discrimination and hatred of atheists. Our Constitution is inclusive of people of all beliefs and the DNC platform should explicitly state that atheists and people holding religious beliefs are entitled to equal respect.

Meaningful changes and reforms that many Americans desperately need and desire are unlikely to be accomplished as long as the Republicans and Democrats have a monopoly over the electoral process. Much needs to be done to make the process more open to alternative candidates and ideas, but we can start by demanding that the national presidential debates be opened to all viable candidates, those who are on the ballot in a sufficient number of states to be able to win the required number of electoral votes to be elected. Supporting this demand does not support any candidates or their positions, nor does it oppose any candidates or their positions. Opening the debates to all viable candidates does, however, allow voters to be exposed to the open and free exchange of alternative ideas for governance that will allow us to be better informed before we vote.

Upon false allegations towards me and my wife since January 8, 2016! We have been attacked by having past experiences in our lives reopened by Harrodsburg, Kentucky's DCBS office, including Bluegrass Comp Care! My wife nor I have not been shown any respect, compassion, or love over my PTSD from a tragic wreck where 3 friends died after a semi ran over us, speeding. I was diagnosed with manic depression and PTSD in 2008! My wife has a chemical imbalance in her brain due to a doctor overdosing her as a child with bi-polar and ADHD! My wife was diagnosed as a child. She also has dyslexia. She draws SSI. I do not, for my IQ, they say, is too high! My wife had a mental breakdown last month after my sister and brother-in-law have had our child since June 17, 2016! She has since received permission from a court-appointed attorney to leave to Florida and get her mind right. Yes, we have argued, but over what these therapist and social workers have pushed to say we are unfit. They did not start following up until March 18, 2016! I noticed they changed the allegations around so they could try to make a case, and they have; getting Judge Petree to order us for mental problems with a doctor. We love each other dearly and we were great new parents, never arguing or fighting until the day they came into our lives! I, Anthony Jay Bast, along with my wife, Kiri Smith-Bast (speaking on behalf of my wife's permission), want our lives especially back with our son. P.S. They never found any proof of the original allegations and stated they were closing the case within 2 weeks. Every other month they have had me take off work to meet with them, only to cancel and want to reschedule every time until the past month. Now it's every two weeks I have to take off work and have another boss bicker at me, telling me I'm on the verge of getting fired for attendance. I've lost two jobs due to social workers' attacks here in Mercer County Kentucky, along with over a thousand dollars already! Can someone please help my family get our lives back, please?
