Tell the Legislature: Let Oregonians Raise the Local Minimum Wage! From Seattle to San Francisco to Los Angeles, cities and counties up and down the West Coast are leading the charge to raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour and lifting thousands of working families out of poverty along the way. Why not Portland, Eugene, Salem or Bend? Oregon law currently prohibits cities, counties, and local governments from setting a minimum wage that is higher than the state minimum. It's called "preemption" and it's holding us back. It's time to do away with Oregon's minimum wage preemption law and allow local communities to set their own minimum wage. Prevent massacre of feral cats in AustraliaOn July 16, 2015, the Australian government unveiled its plan to kill two million feral cats by 2020. While the problem they are targeting is real and serious (scientists say that they are a primary factor behind the extinction of at least 29 indigenous mammal species in Australia), the solution of poisioning the cats is barbaric to say the least. Efforts should be made to find a more humane solution, working with animal rights advocates, agencies, shelters, and rescues to spay/neuter and adopt out those that are healthy and spare as many as possible from a horrible death. This holocaust should be stopped.2,143 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Karen Hutchins

No Regional War in the Middle EastI’m Jewish and I care about Israel. I’m a retired teacher and feel I owe my career to bright, motivated Iranian students I taught many years ago. I hurt to see people I care about hurting each other.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ward Stalnaker

Bring Anthony HomeOur prisons are way too crowded not leaving enough for for the violent offenders. We are spending money each day to house non-violent or drug offenders when we could be sending them to rehabs and diversion centers.209 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Tammy Casey

Tell The New York Times to give Bernie Sanders equal airtime as Hillary and other candidates! This past weekend, Bernie Sanders held record-breaking rallies in the red states Arizona and Texas, and crowds have been consistently large in other states. Yet the media continues to downplay his candidacy. This must change, or we will start boycotting. Equal time for Bernie!!! If MSNBC is truly an unbiased news source, it will cover ALL candidates equally, not just the ones paid for by corporations!32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joy Jones

Demand an apology from Donald Trump! On June 16th, Donald Trump said the following hurtful, harmful, and completely inaccurate statement: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…they’re sending people that have lots of problems…they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists…” Trump couldn’t be more wrong: Studies show that immigrants are actually LESS likely to commit crimes and also that immigration and crime rates aren’t linked at all. His hateful statement was both inaccurate AND harmful to families. Sign on to MomsRising's open letter to Donald Trump demanding an apology: To: Donald Trump From: Parents, grandparents, and all who care for our country’s children On June 16th, you made offensive, inaccurate, flat-out wrong, racist comments about Mexican immigrants, calling them "dangerous criminals" and "rapists." On behalf of our children, we demand an apology. Let’s set the record straight: According to the American Immigration Council, numerous studies have shown that “immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than the native-born, and high rates of immigration are not associated with higher rates of crime. This holds true for both legal immigrants and the undocumented, regardless of their country of origin or level of education.” Furthermore, two thirds of all immigrants to our country are women and children, and the harm of this type of racism is far from a “grown-up” problem. It hurts children too. Research indicates that children who are exposed to racism at an early age suffer socially, academically, and their health is negatively impacted. Children should not have to experience racism anywhere in their lives. Mr. Trump, apologize for your racist attacks against immigrant women, children, and families!337 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Xochitl Oseguera

Take the Burr out of the Saddle of Exxon's Climate DenialWe have come to a point in our Earth's history where we need action on climate change and the influence of money and corporations in our politics. It is going to kill us, and already is, in a slow and violent way. The data coming in from the scientific community is dire with impacts occurring soon and accelerating with time. We have to act, now, like our very survival depended on it. These issues tie together nicely in this MoveOn petition I helped create.50 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marc Dreyfors

Stop Nuclear Regulatory Commission From Extending License Period 20 years For California NukePG&E is applying for a license extension on the operation of Diablo Nuclear Power Plant’s twin reactors (located near San Luis Obispo), adding an extra 20 years to its expiration dates of November 2, 2024 and August 26, 2025. By these dates, each reactor would have already been in operation for 40 years. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will conduct two public hearings on August 5 at the Courtyard by Marriott San Luis Obispo, 1605 Calle Joaquin Road. The first session will run from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and the second from 7-10 p.m. Having a Nuclear Power plant with two reactors that reside near a minimum of 2 earthquake faults, (2.5 miles from the Hosgri Fault, 1 mile from the Shoreline Fault) is a danger to the people and property in the surrounding regions. Nuclear reactors that can house the radioactivity of the equivalent of thousands of Hiroshima bombs do not belong in earthquake country and populous regions. They did not belong in Fukishima, Japan, and they don’t belong in California. The Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power plant is located a little over 200 miles from the heavily populated San Francisco Bay Area to the North and about the same amount of miles to the second most populous region in the United States, Los Angeles-Long Beach metropolitan area to the South. Whether by earthquake, terrorism or just a simple mistake the devastation could be so monumental as to impact California for decades at minimum. This facility cannot be granted another 20 years of operation. Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant must be shut down by its scheduled license expiration dates, if not before.272 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Joseph Mirabile
