On average someone's dying every 13 minutes of overdose to heroin/opiates. Many of whom are under 21 yrs old. We NEED more doctors and more options for treatment and maintenance based treatment. Studies show that Suboxone and methadone based treatment saves lives.Unfortunately, there is just NOT enough programs to treat the growing numbers.We are advocating for funding to open more programs and ALLOW the cap of 100 patient's per provider to be increased to help serve the rapidly growing NEED!

Grove Atlantic Press is promoting the memoir "Straight to He*l" by Twitter plagiarist and Wall Street refugee John LeFevre (after the project was appropriately dumped by Simon & Schuster). The book, by a former Wall Street banker, revels in sexism, racism and disdain for the poor. Publisher Morgan Entrekin has said that progressive politics and participation in the civil rights movement shaped who he is. Let's see an endorsement of those values in lieu of a naked cash grab. This is not a call for censorship. Mr. LeFevre has a right to say whatever he wants. However, thoughtful readers have the right to call both him and his publisher out. To get a sense of what "Straight to He*l" is like, refer to the final chapter, wherein the author recounts a sex tourism adventure in the Philippines. Among the hi-jinx, LeFevre fondly describes "Love Monkey Bowling" in which he and his colleagues enjoyed greasing a bar-top down which they pushed naked Asian women into piles of empty bottles. In case you are wondering whether Mr. LeFevre has any regrets or even thoughtful reflections regarding such experiences, he wants to assure you that he does not: "These are a few of my stories. All bankers have stories just like them...I certainly enjoyed the years that I spent on Wall Street, and remain unapologetic for all that I saw and did. I enjoyed the f**k out of it" (from the "Straight to He*l" epilogue). In the author's note, LeFevre writes, "My objective is to unapologetically showcase the true soul of Wall Street in a way that hasn't been done before. No epiphanies. No apologies. No f**ks given." A new law will not allow parents to SAVE THEIR OWN CHILDREN! Even if your son or daughter had a addiction problem and you wanted to help them... If they have Medicaid, YOU CAN'T! I know it sounds absurd... IT IS and It's real! I personally lost two brothers to this terrible addiction and I know I cannot save them... We simply want to save the lives of those addicted without the "shackles" of bureaucracy. We KNOW we have saved MANY lives already but recent law changes for Medicaid Patients are literally sending REAL people.. our neighbors, friends, co-workers and relatives (sometimes unbeknownst to us) back to the streets and in the arms of the drug dealers. We have watched decades of death and destruction in the middle-east. This initiative can be the start of an alternative process and can lead to civilized resolution processes for other conflicts in the region. It must be encouraged.

All throughout our country industrial agriculture using CAFOs has been housing dairy cows, pigs, chickens and other livestock in small confined areas. The volume of urine and manure produced is beyond what a sustainable environment can handle. This results in nitrate contaminated water supplies and significant air pollution. A recent federal court case in Yakima County, Washington presented EPA and other scientific data to the federal judge and he determined that the industrial dairies were polluting the ground water with nitrates through leaking manure lagoons, long term storage or composting of acres of unused manure, and over-application of manure on fields. He determined that manure is an environmental hazard when produced in great quantity and inappropriately managed. He determined that manure should be regulated as a solid waste. Almost immediately a U.S. Congressman from the Yakima Valley, Dan Newhouse, attached amendment 613 to H.R. 2822 that would reverse the court’s decision and prevent the EPA from regulating manure as a solid waste. For the sake of our land, water, air and the innocent neighbors of CAFOs, this amendment needs to be withdrawn or defeated.

Make no mistake, this is a good deal. To reinitialize the investigation into Scott Walker and to stop cronyism from undermining the democratic process in the state of Wisconsin.

In a recent decision, the Wisconsin Supreme Court stopped the John Doe investigation into Gov. Scott Walker for Campaign Finance Law violations. However, it has been reported that the majority opinion was written by and supported by Supreme Court Justices Michael Gableman, David Prosser, Patience Roggensack and Annette Ziegler--each of whom have received donations from the very campaign organizations that Scott Walker is accused of colluding with in the John Doe investigation. It is thus clear that these four justices failed to disqualify themselves due to conflict of interest under Federal Law 28 U.S.C. § 455. There is reasonable cause to believe their ability to remain impartial is substantially hindered by their vested financial interest in those being investigated.
