• Dock Pay and Benefits of Congress
Every American should be given a vote on this petition. Entire Congress takes too much time off and still receives pay and benefits. All members should have pay and benefits docked when not present in session a minimum of 24 hours each week and be present for all speeches. Entire Congress must be present in their DC office at least 8 hours a week. Congress should travel economy class, not business class or first class unless they pay the difference in price. Congress should not be paid for campaigning. .

  • "Fox News" must no longer include "News" in its title.
Viewers of Fox News are highly likely to be misinformed about the news. Fox News uses racism, sexism, and bigotry to manipulate the fears of its viewers. In today's world, it is dangerous for a large portion of U.S. viewers to be victims of this disinformation. • Scotts Valley Trader Joe's!
Many of us in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley want more variety with our groceries, but we don't want to trek all the way to Santa Cruz to do so. Lets keep our money local and bring better food options to the community by telling Trader Joe's just how many customers it would have if it brought a store to Scotts Valley.

  • Maintain Separation of Church and State
Recently, I heard a misinformed politician refer to America as a “Christian Nation” as if this were fact. But, in fact, America was founded on the principle of religious freedom with a key idea being that religion should not be injected into government or government into religion. This is the true and original American nation. Our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States make no reference to Christianity. Many of the founding fathers were Deists, not Christians. When making reference to the Creator, Lord, or God, they spoke in a generic sense not associated with any specific religious group or faction. The problem with countries that identify themselves as “religious” is that they’re frequently associated with social isolation, persecution, and murder within and beyond their borders. These things, our founding fathers abhorred and our many immigrant citizens escaped to come here in pursuit of the freedom we promised. By signing this petition, I am urging U.S. politicians to acknowledge that America belongs to a diverse group of citizens with the right to their own religious affiliation. America is not a “Christian Nation” but a country that respects all of its members. The falsehood proposed by some of today’s politicians that Americans belong to, or ought to belong to a particular religion, is, in my opinion, dangerous, inaccurate, and counter to the premise on which this nation was founded. Further, my signature confirms that I will not vote for any office seeker who tries to promote a narrow religious view on the citizenry of what seems to be an increasingly chauvinistic governance.

  • Equal punishment for statutory rape victims male or female
To get an understanding of the system and the injustice for men. I have witnessed an incident such as this and the female started it by texting this young male phone and her father called the police and pressed charges. The text messages were still in this female phone when her daddy saw them. I believe the bond was set because the black daddy was a physical therapist of the small town. It was more her fault as well as the male and his bond was set at $100,000.00. This was not fair to the male and he has a good head on his shoulder and this was very sad to the entire family as well.

  • Take prescription drug advertisements off television
I became very ill in 2011, and was soon bulldozed on 16 different pharmaceutical medications. I was given one medication and then more to treat the side effects of that and so on. I had been told that I was going to die either from the medication or from the disease that I had. Since that time, I have been disabled. With that, I have been home and watching more television than I ever have in my life. While gravely ill, I remember watching the advertisements and wanting to feel well and happy and do all of the positive things that they show in the ads. I have been taking back my health over the last year. It is a process and I am on a positive recovery pattern. Part of my recovery has been to reduce pharmaceuticals and only take them when the benefit outweighs the risk. While this is a personal choice one must make, it is essential to taking back one's health. I am not only recovering from the effects of the diseases I have, but also from pharmaceutical overload. I believe the advertisements are detrimental to a person's health, and often create tunnel vision with regard to health choices. Also, the subliminal seduction associated with advertising on television is no place for body and mind altering substances. Isn't that part of the reason that we took tobacco advertisements off of television? Let's put prescription drug information back where it should be. At the physician's office. Thank you.
