Hundreds of thousands of people across Pennsylvania have a condition which could be helped by treatment using some form of medical cannabis. Cannabis is one of the oldest medicines in the world, and is the safest therapeutically active substance known to mankind. It has been scientifically studied in great detail. Cancer, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy and seizures, nausea, Alzheimers, ALS, Cronh's Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, chronic pain, arthritis, glaucoma, dementia, depression, PTSD, and many other conditions are all at least partially treatable with cannabis. Healthcare practitioners need to have this medicine available as a treatment option for their patients. For many patients, including many young children with forms of intractable epilepsy such as Dravet Syndrome, they face the possibility of death in the time it takes the legislature to act. For the rest, cannabis is the best medicinal hope remaining for re-gaining - at least partially - a normal life. Many times, cannabis can be a better treatment option than conventional pharmaceuticals. There is nothing worse than watching someone you care about suffer, except when you have the ability to do something to help. You have the ability to help, simply by making medical cannabis a priority for the remaining days in the 2013-2014 House session. We hereby request that House leadership immediately put HB2182 (Rep. Cox) - or SB1182 (Sens. Folmer & Leach), if it has already passed the Senate by now - onto the House legislative agenda for consideration.

We community members understand that "fiscal responsibility" means spending money in the right way. We are aware that without superb teachers in our classrooms, it won't matter how much money tax-payers spend on technology or curriculum.

There has been gun shootings in American schools, but these shooting are a minority to the other types of gun violence in the states. We need to discuss the problems with guns; not to bring more guns into the situation. This includes enforcing our teachers and faculty to use guns in a school environment.

A few weeks ago nearly 1,500 individual supporters signed a petition supporting the Iwarimie family’s fight to save their home. Shortly afterwards hundreds of supports called Ray Salerno, the President of Garside Homes, to appeal to him personally on the family’s behalf. Despite the growing movement of people supporting the Iwarimies, Garside Homes is moving full speed ahead to put another New Jersey family out on the streets. Garside Homes is in the business of preying on families facing foreclosure – and their shady behavior raises serious red flags. They scoop up distressed mortgages for pennies on the dollar and bully homeowners into leaving their homes in order for Garside to reap huge profits. Not only that, the building featured as Garside Homes’ office on the company’s website is a sham – Garside’s sign has been PhotoShopped onto the building, which they’ve never occupied – we know because we went there and asked. Why the deceit? We need to send a strong message to Garside Homes that their business practices are not welcome in Newark or anywhere else. Will you sign this petition to let them know you support the Iwarimie family and want Garside to drop the foreclosure suit against them? On Friday, September 19th, a judge will re-consider the Iwarimie’s foreclosure case. We hope justice will prevail in the court, but Garside Homes could drop the case altogether if they choose. Please sign this petition (which will send emails to Garside Homes staffers) - let them know that thousands of people are watching them, and that we won’t stand quietly in the shadows while deceitful opportunists prey on hard-working homeowners!

Loopholes in the Clean Water Act are threatening Lake Michigan and all of Illinois' waterways. Just this year 32, 000 people enjoyed Illinois waterways, and millions of people statewide rely on Lake Michigan and other watersheds for drinking water. Polluters should be held accountable!

I believe the Great Spirit has shown me this vision. The Native American Counsel of Nations assuming our government in peace and equality and caring for mother earth. I am of German descent. I am going to California in October to speak with the Chief of the Tule River Tribe and it would be a blessing to have signatures, that will be a revelation for the Natives to understand our forgiveness and desperation as our government continues to send our children to foreign lands to secure the 'investments' of the elite few.

The City of Milwaukee stands for the right to choose solar power. We Energies would eliminate that choice as well as raising rates on all ratepayers. Washington has one of the highest minimum wages in the country with yearly cost of living adjustments. That’s been good for families, good for local businesses, and good for the state. By raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour and tying future increases to the rate of inflation we can lift hundreds of thousands of working families out of poverty. I’ve been fighting to pass a bill that would do just that. I’m going to keep up that fight until we get it done – but I need your support. Anyone working full time in America should be able to afford to put a roof over their head and food on the table. Yet today, a person trying to raise a family earning the federal minimum wage falls below the federal poverty line. That’s simply unacceptable.
