  • Secretary Reich: Train Us How to Unite Americans on Moving from Income Inequality to Shared Prosp...
Widening inequality--with a small number of people getting an increasing share of income and wealth—makes a mockery of equal opportunity, slows upward mobility, undermines democracy, hobbles our economy by reducing overall demand, and risks the fracture of our society. Everyone, even those at the top, would do better with a smaller share of a rapidly growing economy than with a large share of an anemic one. We must restore the basic economic bargain epitomized by Henry Ford that workers are also consumers and must earn enough to buy the goods and services they can produce. There is a moral urgency and a practical one. We must act now before both our economic and political systems crumble under the weight of dissention and conflict.

  • Governor Deal, Georgia Needs Medicaid Expansion
Governor Deal has said the state cannot afford to expand Medicaid, even though the federal government would pay 100 percent of the cost for three years and then gradually scale back its support to a permanent level of 90 percent.

  • Sentencing reform 16 year for nonviolent issues not even crimes lets fix it!
It’s time for the United States to seriously rethink our penal system. We have the highest incarceration rate in the entire world. We put more of our citizens in jail per capita than North Korea. We’re worse than China and Iran. Does that compute? It should be disturbing to us that we throw so many non-violent offenders in jail. Let the sad, ironic cautionary tale of McGruff the Crime Dog be a lesson to us. Read more at http://lastresistance.com/4672/sad-story-mcgruff-crime-dog/#CezOToHk1EAYVGEJ.99

  • Mayor Jefferey Jones: Clean Up The Streets of Paterson, NJ! All year long!!
This petition is to illustrate the negligence of the city officials to keep their residents in a clean and safe environment. Unsafe roads create hazards among one another to be able to get to work and pay the outrageous property taxes. Put the dollars to work!

  • Close Offshore Tax Haven Loopholes. Bring Money Back to Illinois
Last year, in the midst of a budget crunch, Illinois could have generated $108.3 million if we modernized our state’s tax code by closing offshore tax haven loopholes with a simple reform similar to recent laws enacted in Oregon and Montana. This would eliminate incentives for moving businesses offshore, level the playing field for Illinois businesses that compete with multinational corporations, and protect regular taxpayers who are picking up the tab for tax dodgers. The $108.3 million saved would be enough to cover the salaries for 3,000 Illinois teachers, or could be used to eliminate hunting and fishing license fees and cut amusement licenses by over 90 percent without any loss of revenue. Rather than waiting for Congress to close offshore tax havens, Illinois can follow the lead of other states and save millions of dollars to help alleviate our budget crisis without raising taxes or cutting spending to important public programs.

  • I Know Signing Isn't Voting
I sign lots of petitions and post pics on Facebook because I'm passionate about political issues and I believe the Tea Party Republicans are pulling this county apart. You're betting I won't vote and all I'll do is complain on Facebook. I just wanted to let you know I will vote on election day. Because I know signing isn't the same as voting.

  • Sexist Pacer Test
We are sixth graders writing from our personal experiences last year. We are aghast that an issue we thought was resolved in the nineteen hundreds is still a problem today, into the twenty first century. The pacer test is a standardized test to confirm the physical ability of children in terms of running endurance. It is not fair that boys should have to live up to the expectations of being vastly more physically fit than girls, and girls should not have to be put down by the idea that they are not able to be equal to boys.
