• Investigate the Koch Brothers influence over American Government
    The Koch Brothers are the single greatest threat to our nation today. They are using their money and influence to literally take over both state governments, but also huge controls over the federal government. They have also influenced two SCOTUS judges, specifically Scalia and Thomas (also Thomas wife). The Kochs fund the Tea Party and Grover Norquist and his blackmail of members of congress. We the people MUST educate ourselves and see the threat of the Kochs and also their organization ALEC.

  • Secretary Hagel: Fix the problem of military sexual assault
    US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel pledged to stop the estimated 19,000 military sexual assaults perpetrated every year. This epidemic of military sexual assault can and must be stopped. One of the few cases actually to reach a jury trial has been unilaterally thrown out by a lone general. As a former sexual assault prosecutor I am outraged by this travesty of justice which harms the victim and besmirches the millions who serve with honor.

    Adult Ed has been serving California for over 150 years, helping parents, the unemployed, seniors, young adults, & immigrants gain the skills they need to contribute to California at full power. In the last five years, it's been cut to the bone. Now Gov. Brown wants to move it to the Community College system, away from the low-cost programs in K-12 systems. The move would cost money. And it would make it harder or impossible for some students to access it. Keep Adult Ed as it - but give it a stable budget (a designated funding stream). Rebuild Adult Education to Rebuild the State. Adult Education Matters!

    Know the facts: 1. Texas has among the highest rates of uninsured nationwide, with 6.2 million individuals (approximately 25 percent) uninsured. Expanding Medicaid coverage would provide health care coverage to an additional 1.5 million Texans. 2. These funds are your tax dollars.
