ITD plans to re-locate a major highway over a local landmark, Paradise Ridge. This route (E-2) will be more subject to dangerous winter weather, and will put at risk critical patches of the native Palouse Prairie Ecosystem of which there is only 0.1% remaining. Other alternatives will stay off the ridge and do much less environmental damage.

It is unbelievable that some states and specially Texas cannot fund its schools when the money is available. The workforce of the future needs well educated and prepared personnel who can contribute to the nation, specially in the field of research and technology. The United staes must compete with toher nations and keep high standards in order to do it through a strong educational system. I expect all legislators to encourage better training and support so the United States creates mathematicians, scientists and technology that will move us forward.

Re-writing Wisconsin's state mining regulations threatens the environment of Northern Wisconsin. Changes to state regulations may pave the way for the assault on the delicate ecological balance of the Lake Superior region. Economic development should proceed in favor of and not against the environment that sustains it!

Paying for our childrens education is the responsibility of ALL taxpayers. Robbing the teachers retirement fund, like was done in 2003, is not a "constitutional funding mechanism for Oregon's future" as was stated by the Speaker of the House, Tina Kotek. For the first 25 years of teaching, my wife and I planned our retirement, which was reflected to us by the State of Oregon's annual PERS statments. As stated in the "Contract Clause" and the 2005 Oregon Supreme Court decision stating that "decades long pension contributions are considered a labor contract." Therfore all economic working conditions MUST BE BARGAINED. They can not be unilaterally changed, and then be construed to be Constitutional.

Dear Friends, We need your help. We have started a petition for better HSV testing from the medical profession. According to the Center for Disease and Control, there are over 19 million people newly diagnosed with herpes each year. Why is that? Unfortunately, many treat herpes as a joke, and do not get tested. In fact many aren’t aware that both HSV1 (commonly associated with cold sores) and HSV2 can both be transmitted genitally, when no sores are present. Many in the medical profession do not test for HSV1 because they consider it the “safer one” and “everyone has that one.” Some people do not get tested because “they have never experienced an outbreak;” however, that does not mean that they do not carry the virus, or they cannot transmit it to an unsuspected partner. For newly infected people, the one blood test (Western Blot) that can tell you accurately which type you have is not covered by medical insurance and costs $400 because herpes is considered cosmetic. Cosmetic? How are acne treatments covered by insurance companies and herpes is not? Some studies of herpes has been linked to: cervical cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and has been known to cause brain damage and death if mothers pass it on to newborn children. We ask that you sign this petition, putting more pressure on the government and insurance companies to start treating herpes more seriously, and test people for HSV2 and HSV1. By signing the petition, it does not mean you have herpes, although if you have never been tested before, and can afford the $400 we urge you to do so.
