• Promote Reasonable Gun Control
California already has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country, and many of those laws do nothing to increase safety, but harrass and annoy responsible gun owners that may otherwise support effective regulations aimed at reducing gun-related crimes or accidents. These mis-guided laws generate ill-will towards any new laws that might actually be effective in increasing public safety. The Legislature and the Governor should empower a commission composed of equal numbers of 2nd Amendment Advocates and Gun Control Advocates to perform a complete review of existing laws, and to make recommendations as to the advisability of repealing any and all restrictions that do not directly enhance public safety.

  • Why should Staten Islanders have to "PAY" to get home?
I live on Staten Island and have to pay a hefty toll to get home either on the Gothals, Verazzanno or Outerbridge Crossings. I get a Staten Island resident discount but it is still a great deal to have to pay each trip: $5.76 on the Verazzanno, $10.25 on the Outerbridge and Gothals and if people visit me they pay $13.50 per trip! These bridges are the only way onto the island by car and I think it is absolute robbery one has to pay such a lot just to get home!

  • Senate: Make Brennan Come Clean on Drone Strikes
President Obama has nominated John Brennan, whom the New York Times calls the "chief architect" of the secret drone war, to head the CIA. A bipartisan group of eleven Senators led by Ron Wyden and Dick Durbin has demanded that the Administration disclose its legal justification for using drone strikes to kill Americans overseas. In response, the White House leaked a "white paper" that summarizes its argument, but has still not released the legal memos, even to the Senate Intelligence Committee. Urge the Senate to demand answers to basic questions about the drone strike policy before Brennan is confirmed as head of the CIA. What is the legal justification for drone strikes? How many civilians have been killed? Will Brennan get the CIA out of drone strikes, as Human Rights Watch and the Washington Post editorial board have demanded? Is it true that the CIA has targeted rescuers with "secondary strikes," which the UN has said is a war crime?

  • Stop suppressing Florida voters
I wasn't personally affected but I learned that 200,000 Florida voters were turned away from the polls, or left without voting, because of extremely long waiting lines engineered by ???? Florida went Democratic anyway. We have to stop suppressing voters in Florida. Who's responsible? I am not sure, but we should find out.

  • Student/ Veteran Aid and Homelessness
To Move-On Members, and anyone else this may concern, I will make this as brief as possible, but give you enough information that I pray you can help me with. I am currently attending Technical Education Center of Osceola County, Florida for web programming services. The education that I am receiving is so that I can find stability in this turbulent economy. I have a bachelor’s of science in business management, but that was not providing me with a vocation where I could take care of myself (not to mention my family which is another story) The purpose of this message is to inform you that anyone that has ever had the opportunity to attend school for bettering him/herself knows it is not easy, and the possibility of becoming homeless due to unforeseen circumstances makes said stress unbearable. I lost my father-in-law recently and my estranged wife had to go home. I was invited, but could not afford to due to money and the time I would be out of class. Well, I am very close to my in-laws even though my spouse and I are estranged. She told me that she wanted to go home to represent us, and although I could not afford it, I sent her. It was death and family should be there when a loved one has died. As a result of this, I am now facing eviction. I thought I would be able to find help via the services that provide help, but was told that it would be difficult to help me due to the money I receive to go to school (which is like my pay check to take care of little things needed for school) was not valid enough to receive help. How can I be expected to "keep it together" while trying to do my best to better myself (and possibly be reunited with my spouse) if I am evicted for having a death in my family, and going to school, thus not making a lot of money at the time. I need your help to avoid eviction. I am aware that sometimes we have to jump through hoops (unnecessarily) to get what we need, but this is too much as I am certain that anyone else would have made the same decision I did. Oh, and by the way, I am a USN veteran which is how I receive money to go to school. It's a shame about how we as Americans treat people today that need help until something dire has happened then, questions are raised about why no one did anything, and I am just reaching out to anyone that I can to avoid being yet another statistic that got help too late. Hope you will help me soon, Norward Henry

  • Governor Pat McCroy: Do NOT pass voter suppression
Recently in the 2012 Election Representive Thom Tills has said he hopes the voter suppression bill will pass. This CANNOT happen!! It will make everyone have an ID to vote. However this will deter people from voting like a guy i help at my homeless soup kitchen. Please Tell Pat McCroy to not vote this bill in.
