• Support a Fair Contract for GSU Professors and Staff
During the state budget crisis of 2015-17, UPI members made financial sacrifices to keep the university running and tuition low. These professionals showed dedication to the educational needs of working class, immigrant, African American, veteran, women, youth, and LGBTQIA+ students. They stood for us; now it’s time to have their back.

  • #Save the Kurds
The Kurds have been our allies in the Middle East, fighting alongside us against Isis and other terrorist organizations for decades. They've done the brunt of the ground fighting in Syria. It is demoralizing for our soldiers to watch their brothers in arms die helplessly and from the inaction of their own government. This situation is directly attributable to Trump's actions and needs to be reversed immediately. The Turks are bent on exterminating the Kurds and repopulating the area where the Kurds have historically lived. DO NOT allow this to happen in the name of the American people. Demand that Congress take action to stop the slaughter of our Kurdish Allies IMMEDIATELY!!

  • Stop USA arms, soldiers and nuclear technology from moving to Saudi Arabia. Remember who financed...
9-11 was a horrible attack brazenly on the people of the United States of America financed by the wealth of Saudi Arabian royalty. But a scant decade later, to fill his greedy pockets, Donald Trump, against the will of Congress and with no regard for the impact on We, The People, he is sending our soldiers, our military and nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia. In exchange Trump will profit from real estate deals, profit from the corporations signing contracts with Saudi Arabia for this debacle, corporations already bribing Trump & his businesses. How can the United States Senate stand by and allow a sworn enemy to have our military might at their disposal? We MUST NOT be silent. Either Trump ceases to be a profiteering monster-in-charge or we must IMPEACH him NOW!

  • No UFA dues to the IAFF.
The UFA pays the IAFF over 1.2 million per year from the UFA general fund. The IAFF dues are recorded as a tax. The IAFF has done nothing for the UFA membership that the UFA can't do for itself.

  • Installation of Backup Generator for Lantos Tunnels
Thanks to everyone who signed this petition! Each and every person made a huge impact for quick action and responses. Please see this update I received today from Caltrans on the timeline for installation: Hi Heather – Caltrans is working on a project to install a 3-megawatt generator at the Lantos Tunnel. In fact, Caltrans engineers met with staff from Caterpillar Corporation today, going over design specifications for the generator that will be installed at the Tunnel Operations Center. A generator of its size will take some time to develop, build, and install. Currently, we are in the design phase. After the design specifications are delivered, Caterpillar will custom-build the generator. Caltrans and Caterpillar will work together to install the generator onsite. All tolled, the process with taken 8-12 months. The generator will have more than enough power to run the tunnel systems, including the jets fans, in the event of a power outage. If you have other questions, please send me an email or give me a call. Sincerely Jeff Weiss FYI: I've also added this same petition to the Change website. (URL below.) Officials will continue to receive updates from either petition; I'm combining and sending both lists to them now and an ongoing daily basis as new names are added. No names or comments will be lost! You can sign either one and I'll make sure it's communicated. I did this because MoveOn *will* add you to a political email list so I wanted to provide an option if you are not comfortable with that. You can always unsubscribe at the end of the email. ALTERNATIVE PETITION: http://chng.it/nYV8KM46cV (Copy and paste into browser) With the recent PG&E shutdown, it became apparent that the Lantos Tunnels do not have a backup generator and there are no plans to install one. The tunnels cannot be open without electricity. It’s imperative that a backup generator is installed because the tunnels are a lifeline for thousands of Coastside residents. If electricity is not available after an earthquake or any other emergency, residents will be left in a desperate situation. There is also the major economic impact as it is part of a major north-south artery in San Mateo county. Please sign this petition that directly asks Caltrans and elected local, state, and Congress officials to put the safety of Coastside residents first with the common-sense installation of a permanent backup generator for the Lantos Tunnels.

  • Let's get Facebook to Stop Allowing Lie-Filled Political Ads!
Facebook's Ad policy to allow lie-filled political ads is blatant, anti-democracy propagandist tactics allowing the dissemination of lies. When Biden's Campaign asked FB to remove an ad with false, unproven slander against Biden, FB responded "grounded in Facebook's fundamental belief in free expression, respect for the democratic process, and belief that in mature democracies with a free press, political speech is already arguably the most scrutinized speech there is." Yes, Facebook, and there is a reason for that: the Trump Administration's spreading of lies and false information is at an all-time high. Your help in spreading false information to influence public opinion poisons the public discourse and chips away at our democracy. A democracy should fight against the spreading of lies and slandering. Zuckerberg is off the rails with this.

  • Help the Syrian Kurds
I am sickened by our betrayal of the Syrian Kurds. They have fought hard to protect their homeland and have made the world a safer place by fighting ISIS; In return, we have left them open to ethnic cleansing.

  • Protect the immigrant workers who rebuild our homes after climate disasters
My name is Saket Soni. I’m an organizer on the frontlines of recovery from climate disaster and work with a group called Resilience Force. We fight to protect the workers who rebuild our homes and communities. Hundreds of thousands of these workers are immigrants. As publications like the New York Times and Gizmodo have reported, these immigrant resilience workers face dangerous working conditions, homelessness, abuse, and attacks by immigration enforcers with no oversight—even as they work to help us all come home. In 2020, we need a president who will protect our resilience workforce: the people who make our recovery possible. TELL THESE CANDIDATES to pledge to give America’s resilience workers: • Dignity at work including safe working conditions and a living wage • Freedom from fear of deportation as they work to help local residents come home, and • Full citizenship in the America they’re rebuilding after climate disasters
