• Petition to Lower Hunt County Property Taxes
The high property taxes are not sustainable for Hunt County residents, with the inflated property appraisals and the tax rates not being reduced. It forces some Hunt County residents right out of their homes.

  • No SCOTUS Nomination Until After 2018 Midterm Elections
I was infuriated by Mitch McConnell blocking President Obama's Supreme Court nomination and we must insist he follow the same standard now to fill the seat left vacant with the resignation of Justice Anthony Kennedy. A conservative nominee like Brett Kavanaugh is a threat to reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, and Americans' right to health care. It is more imperative because this president and his campaign staff are under investigation for foreign collusion with Russia. Until these investigations are complete, Trump should not have a say about the next lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.

  • Steve King Must Delete His Tweet Elevating A Self-Described Nazi Sympathizer
Earlier this month Rep. Steve King retweeted a message from a self-described Nazi sympathizer who has expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler in the past. King retweeted the neo-Nazi and added a comment saying, "Europe is waking up...Will America...in time?" Since then, elected officials, political leaders, and his own constituents have demanded that Steve King apologize and delete the tweet. But King told CNN he wasn't sorry for unintentionally sharing the tweet and pointedly refused to delete the message. Asked why he wouldn't delete a message from someone who has praised Nazi Germany, King said: "Because then it'd be like I'm admitting that I did something, now I'm sorry about it. I'm not sorry. I'm human." But Steve King was wrong to use his status as an elected official to elevate a Nazi sympathizer. It's absolutely shocking that he's refusing to apologize. Rep. Steve King should admit he's wrong and delete the tweet immediately.

  • Remove and Replace Rick Miller as City Manager
Rick Miller has repeatedly lied to the city council and the citizens of Coolidge in regards to the tax status of the Coolidge Performing Arts and Artisan Village 501C3. Rick Miller has a conflict of interest being city manager and being on the board of a group that large amounts of city money was given but not accounted for. Rick Miller has repeatedly engaged in behavior that has been detrimental to the public’s view of the city as well as helping to cause a divisive rift within the community that he was hired to build up. We demand that the Coolidge City Council take immediate action to replace Rick Miller as city manager.

The Minnesota primary election will be held on August 14th. Democratic voters will need to choose the strongest candidate to place on the ballot for the critical election in November. Tina Smith, former lieutenant governor of Minnesota and appointed by Governor Dayton to temporarily fill the US Senate seat vacated by Al Franken; or Richard Painter, currently a law professor at the University of Minnesota and former chief White House ethics lawyer. Minnesotans need to know more about these two candidates. • We Need a Trader Joe's in Downtown Long Beach
Having to drive ten minutes to get to TJ's is a first world problem, I get that. But Long Beach promotes itself as bicycle friendly, and a TJ's downtown would be within an easy bicycle commute of more than enough of us to support the store. If you agree, sign the petition. And if you shop at the TJ's on Bellflower and are tired of not finding things there because they are sold out, help take some pressure off your local TJ's by signing the petition.
