Which is dangerous and could have very serious implications. PLEASE SHUT DOWN TRUMP’s TWITTER ACCOUNT!! Seriously. Twitter profits are not worth jeopardizing people’s safety. Trump continues to be in direct violation of Twitter policies (see details below). Stand by (or require) Twitter policies and standards. • Withdraw Wendy Vitter's Nomination
On January 23, President Trump nominated Wendy Vitter to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. At her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 11, Sen. Blumenthal asked Vitter whether she believes Brown v. Board of Education was decided correctly. She refused to answer. Watch the shocking exchange here: https://twitter.com/civilrightsorg/status/984135758440263702 The 1954 Brown decision was a unanimous ruling that struck down segregation in our nation's public schools. Nominees to our federal courts who cannot say, without qualification, that they believe Brown was correctly decided should not be considered for lifetime positions on the federal bench. Before Vitter's hearing, civil rights organizations like ours were already opposed to her confirmation because of her extreme record. Vitter has taken irresponsible positions on women’s health and reproductive freedom, and she attempted to hide some of those views by failing to disclose them to the Senate. She also has a history of insensitivity to the rights of immigrants. After her hearing, we're even more outraged. Federal courts won't protect our civil and human rights if we don't protect the federal courts – but we need your help. Join us in urging Louisiana's Senators Kennedy and Cassidy to stand up for fair courts and call for Vitter's immediate withdrawal.

  • Tell Congress: Reject the new Farm Bill and stop Big Ag from destroying our food system!
Today, Republicans in Congress unveiled their Farm Bill. This bill would be a disaster for our food system. It would harm our environment and public health. And it would allow pesticide companies to keep poisoning bees and butterflies. This bill is nothing more than a massive giveaway to Big Ag. We need your help to push your Representative to reject it!

  • Tell the EPA: Ban Monsanto's monarch-killing pesticide!
Monarch butterflies are in trouble. They’ve declined by 90% in the last 20 years. And a key culprit is the massive increase in the use of glyphosate -- the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup®. The EPA is accepting public comments on whether to let Monsanto keep poisoning our food system with glyphosate. But you only have a few days left to speak up and urge the EPA to ban this toxic pesticide!

  • Robert Mueller's Report Must Be Made Public
The media is reporting that Robert Mueller's report on Russia's interference in the 2016 election and the possible Trump Administration obstruction of justice that followed will be released "soon." After the report is finished, Rod Rosenstein will decide whether or not to make it public. We demand that Rosenstein make Special Council Robert Mueller's report available to the American public. If Rosenstien or Mueller are fired, Congress must publish their report.

  • Bring Back The Smiley Barn!
For many decades, a happy smiley face affixed to a yellow barn along highway I-94 in Delafield, Wisconsin, warmed people's hearts and was a treasured landmark. When the smiley was taken down in 2002, the community suffered a huge loss. The barn has now changed hands and the new owner wants to bring the smiley face back but needs approval from Delafield city officials. We need them to vote YES!

  • The NC DMV Needs a Policy for Gender Change on Licenses
When I attempted to change the gender on my license in North Carolina, my proof of documentation was rejected without cause. An original document of mine was confiscated despite my protests and I received inappropriate commentary about my identity and body. Transgender people in NC are treated inconsistently at DMV offices because no policy exists detailing what documents are in fact required. My lawyer and I are crafting a letter to request that the DMV creates a policy for gender change and we need signatures to bolster the cause.

  • Give SNAP Back to People
I have severe depression and anxiety, and had been able to handle the symptoms of these until about five years ago, after a severely traumatic event happened. Now, I cannot work, but the State of Tennessee believes that, just because my hands still function, that I am not disabled. However, disability determination aside, I need to be able to eat, and contribute to my household's income, even if it is just by food stamps. Also, a good friend of mine recently had their SNAP taken away because they cannot get any more than ten hours a week at their job. They are looking for another job, but many places do not offer 20-40 hour work weeks. They are working, but apparently, not enough to suit the State's standards. People, in general, need to be able to eat, even if they do not have a job or a child, and removing food stamps from unemployed adults will leave them starving, which no one deserves.

  • Congress should act immediately upon bipartisan action to prevent firing of Special Prosecutor Mu...
Special Counselor Robert Mueller was appointed by Asst. AG Rosenstein in accordance with the position created by US Congress. According to this legislation only Rosenstein - or an appropriate DOJ official can fire Mueller or effect the efforts by the Special Counselor to conduct the investigation he was appointed to do. President Trump has repeatedly made statements and considered action that would either fire or- restrict Mueller's investigation. In order to protect the integrity of both the office of Special Counsel and the accompanying investigation; a bipartisan measure that would in the event of any attempt to fire Mueller; set up a 10 day window to seek expedited Judicial Review of such firing by Republican Senators Tillis(NC) and Graham(SC) and Democratic Senators Coons(DE) and Booker(NJ) is being prepared for consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee. This measure should be taken up by this Committee and then brought to the Senate Floor and voted in. The House of Representatives should work upon a similar measure and expedite its consideration by appropriate committee and then send to the floor of the House to be passed there.
