Our country is at a tipping point. Our President and Congress work for us as the Citizens. President Trump consistently bullies everyone. He is putting our safety and our way of life in jeapordy. Every day it gets worse. He shows a dangerous disrespect and disregard for all we hold dear and all we have fought for dearly; our constitution, our laws, our values, the earth, and our relationships with the rest of the world. It is up to our Congress, to restrain him. Call his words, the fringe people and groups he supports, and his bullying actions for what they are- an enormous threat to America and the world. They must stop him now.

Responsible gun owners support common sense gun control: universal background checks, keeping guns out of the hands of those with a history of mental illness or violent crime. The NRA doesn't and they also don't want to see research done on gun violence, they want to sell more guns and wipe out any legislation that might endanger their profits.

Our elected officials should not be accepting campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association. How can they be unbiased on NRA matters that come before them if they are receiving NRA money. We sent them to Washington to work on our behalf. Ninety percent of voters say they want background checks on all gun sales. And yet, the people we send to vote on our behalf do nothing to protect the American people from the proliferation of guns.

Mimi Walters has consistently voted against her constituents' wishes and will even take money from the NRA to make sure she keeps her vulnerable seat. She has to be held accountable for supporting an organization that preaches hate and arms citizens with weapons like the one used by the Las Vegas shooter.

Over 30,000 gun deaths so far this year. After Sandy Hook in 2012, accepting any money from the NRA is morally reprehensible. And now, Orlando, Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs, TX! What will it take to get Garrett to put the lives of his constituents ahead of re-election money?

There are two (2) options being proposed: 1) Establish a Museum; and 2) RE-Open Maude (the Maude Callen Health Center). The next County Council meeting, the Community Services Committee, is Monday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. Let your voices be heard.

NASA performs critical climate science research -- its satellites track hurricanes like Maria, Harvey, and Irma, and the wildfires in California -- and the pollution fueling these disasters. Yet, Trump has nominated Jim Bridenstine, a member of Congress from Oklahoma - not a scientist - to run NASA. But Bridenstine is a climate denier. In 2013 he demanded that President Obama apologize for spending NASA money on global warming. Furthermore, Bridenstine seeks to privatize space exploration, selling off NASA's critical role to for-profit corporations. NASA needs to be kept out of politics. Florida's two senators, Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio, have already voiced concern about Bridenstine's political baggage. And, equally important, NASA needs to be run by someone who respects science. Not climate denier Jim Bridenstine.

A 2-year-old boy named A.J. is fighting for his life. And Emory University Hospital is refusing to perform a life-saving kidney transplant operation because of his father, Anthony Dickerson has a criminal record. Anthony is a 100% match to donate a kidney to his son--but after a probation violation, hospital administrators are denying him the chance. A.J. was supposed to have the surgery this month, but the hospital canceled, saying "we need you to be on good behavior for three to four months before you can give your son the kidney. And January 2018 we will think about re-evaluating you." This is a cruel and heartless decision made by Emory University Hospital. A young boy's life is at risk. There is no time for the hospital to push its own agenda and act as its own judge and jury. The systemic racism that exists in the criminal justice system pours into our communities' abilities to live their lives and make free choices. Everyday returning citizens are making their way out of the vicious confines of the prison industrial complex only to struggle to gain fair access to jobs, housing, education, and healthcare. This also has a lasting impact on families and our entire communities. To put an extreme barrier like denying one's son's right to live is not only devastating but inhumane. We all have a duty to help push Emory University Hospital to save this boy's life and do the right thing now. Sign the petition.
