• Keep Seismic Testing out of Monroeville
The fracking industry is targeting Monroeville for seismic testing - the first step to oil and gas drilling. This process involves setting off explosives in deep holes on the ground, or using “thumper” trucks to drop a weighted plate to the ground. Both methods create tremors that can damage property and buried infrastructure. Seismic testing is not safe for our community, and could potentially open the door for fracking in Monroeville. On August 8th, Monroeville Council introduced legislation to protect residents by regulating this seismic testing. Please sign to urge the Monroeville Council to pass the legislation.

  • Comment period just opened: Tell CA’s DPR this proven neurotoxic pesticide has to go
“Friday, May 5th was one of the scariest days ever ... I think it’s unfortunate that workers weren’t told what to do with their soiled clothes. I hope nobody brought their clothes inside or hugged their children or loved ones when they got home wearing their same work clothes.” -- Aylin California officials just announced steps to address the threat of brain-harming insecticide, chlorpyrifos. Instead of being a leader, CA is failing by following the Trump line of more studies are needed. California’s plan doesn’t protect those most directly impacted by exposure to chlorpyrifos — children and farmworkers. Their plan calls for a public comment period, more studies, additional risk assessments and basically more delaying tactics. In addition, these types of studies don't consider the already proven brain-harming effects on children’s developing brains. This re-assessment may conclude in December of 2018. Action is needed now. Farm workers and their children must not keep on inadvertently being exposed to this neurotoxic chemical. Make your voice heard on the Department of Pesticide Regulations’ (DPR) 45 day public comment period. Tell California officials to stop delaying. More delaying tactics can mean more cases like those we just witnessed. There have been two cases since May where chlorpyrifos drift is being investigated. Aylin (story above) was one of 48 cabbage workers who were exposed to chlorpyrifos. The pesticides drifted a half-mile from where they were applied - more than 26 times the limit set by current rules aimed at protecting field workers. Scientists have known for many years that chlorpyrifos damages children’s developing brains — reducing IQs, changing brain architecture and increasing risk of learning disabilities and disorders. That’s why it was banned for home use in 2001 and why we need it banned in the fields so Aylin, her co-workers and their families will not keep being test subjects. As the largest agricultural producer and a huge user of chlorpyrifos, what CA does affects the nation. California has an opportunity to be a national leader on this issue. Sign on to the public comment period today and say, “California must follow the science and take action to protect communities across the state.”

  • FEMA: Don't Leave Dogs to Drown in Houston Flood!
Reports indicate that dogs have been left chained to poles, or stuck in cages, as the floodwaters rise around them. Families have been torn apart in the past, as emergency rescue operations have required guardians to leave their beloved dogs or cats behind. We're asking the head of the federal emergency rescue operations, William Long, to issue a policy requiring that all rescue personnel include dogs, cats, and other animals in their efforts to save lives.

  • Stop the GOP's defunding of Mueller investigation
It is important to the integrity of future elections that we get to the bottom of the issue of Russian interference. We need to know how they did it and if there was any collusion on the part of the Trump campaign. Please allow Robert Mueller to complete his full investigation.

  • Pass emergency funding for Hurricane Harvey victims NOW!
Our country was not prepared for Hurricane Harvey. With only $3.3 billion to spend, FEMA does not have nearly enough resources to cover rescue and recovery efforts in Houston and along the Gulf Coast. A report by CoreLogic estimates that Hurricane Harvey could cause $39.6 billion of damage of homes alone in its immediate path. A major infusion of federal funds is critically needed to bring in additional emergency response teams; begin cleanup efforts; repair damaged houses, schools, businesses, and infrastructure; provide aid to displaced families; help those who have lost their homes and livelihood; provide healthcare and nutrition assistance to those in need; and more. As Congress returns from August recess, top of the Republican agenda will be to pass a federal budget aimed at reducing the size of government by slashing government programs. In his own version of the budget, Donald Trump proposed major funding cuts for disaster relief. As we are seeing now with Hurricane Harvey, FEMA is central to relief efforts in this historic national disaster, demonstrating the unique role government plays in times of need, providing assistance and support, mitigating the effects of disaster for America families and communities. Sign on and tell the U.S. Congress to appropriate major emergency funding to help Hurricane Harvey victims NOW!!!

  • Defund primaries that aren't fair elections
Millions of us worked and donated to support Bernie Sanders' presidential bid, only to get cheated. The Democrats argued, in a FL court, that they can select their nominee however they want. Super delegates exist to prevent voters from choosing. But if the public has no voice, then the public should not be funding this charade. We need to defund Democrat primaries now.

  • YES ON #SB100 - 100 PERCENT CLEAN ENERGY FOR CALIFORNIA
California has long been a leader in clean energy. We now can pass a truly visionary bill: SB 100, moving California to 100 percent renewable and carbon free power by 2045. This is the strongest step we can take as a state to demonstrate our commitment to fighting climate change and improving air quality while continuing to lead on job creation in California. The current federal government won’t help us - it’ll attack our California values every step of the way. Of course Californians will defend our state. But SB 100 will show the White House that we’re not just resisting - we’re creating a better world. We’ll build an economy running on clean energy. And we’ll bring cleaner air to every Californian. It starts with the Assembly voting YES on SB 100. The bill, authored by Senate Pro Tem Kevin DeLeon, already passed the state Senate. Now it heads to the Assembly. Your assemblymember needs to hear from you: Yes on SB 100!

  • Republican officials will be held responsible
We have all seen the damage and changes in our country since Trump began his campaign. It is imperative that he be removed from office. We have already had reason to fear he could start WWIII. The republicans are the people who need to act. We must tell them that they will be held responsible in history for the damges to our country that they could have prevented if only they had removed him from office.
