The Hatch Act is an 86-year-old law that prohibits political activities by federal employees. It’s meant to ensure that government programs, meant to serve all Americans regardless of political affiliation, remain nonpartisan.  Already, a handful of major international airports have refused to comply with Secretary Noem’s request to display her video—an egregious violation of the Hatch Act—at security checkpoints. Some states, like Oregon, have additional protections in addition to federal law that restrict public employes from promoting any political party.  Noem’s video blames the Democrats for the government shutdown, despite Republicans having control of all three branches of government. Millions of Americans are on the brink of losing their health care in the Republicans' budget proposal, and the shutdown is centered on extending critical Affordable Care Act subsidies. But Republicans are refusing to negotiate.  Noem's video overtly blames Democrats for the shutdown and any impact that it has had on travel, clearly meaning to influence general public opinion.  The Trump administration and MAGA Republicans might be okay breaking the law and using public government spaces to spread government-sanctioned propaganda, but airports don’t have to be complicit. Rarely in U.S. history have living presidents minted their image on U.S. currency. Trump wants to change that.  In October, it was reported that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent unveiled plans for a special coin to be released in 2026 marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence—bearing Trump’s profile. The Trump administration is trying to find loopholes in an 1866 law and exploit the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 to justify their flagrant action. But the intention of the rule of law is clear: In America, we have no kings, and living presidents should not be enshrined on our money.  Trump is acting like a dictator, and he wants to be treated like one. From rolling tanks through Washington, D.C., on his birthday to entertaining having his face etched into Mount Rushmore, Trump’s narcissistic attempts to immortalize himself are a flagrant display of authoritarianism and must be stopped.  Make it clear to the Treasury Department that we, the people, oppose breaking from the law and tradition by putting a living president on our currency!

The current building 1930 Beach Street is restricted to be inspected for Inhumane practices by Illinois Congressional Leaders. Chicago Sun-Times reports, “U.S. Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, both Illinois Democrats, on Friday requested a tour of the Broadview ICE facility that has drawn heated protest for weeks, but they were denied entry,(2025, Armentrout). If ICE occupies the current 5000 square foot building and has DENIED entry for routine inspections, how much more would a 200,000 square ft building occupied by ICE would be even worst to inspect. The Israeli government and Hamas have reportedly agreed to phase one of a ceasefire plan that would allow for the release of hostages and detainees, and withdrawal of Israeli military forces from parts of Gaza. After more than two years of pain and suffering, we, along with all those who value peace and justice, welcome news of a pause in the violence and the chance for families to be reunited. Crucially, this means the influx of urgently-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza, and a respite from incredible violence and terror for millions of people across an entire region. Yet in this hopeful moment, too many lives remain at incredible risk, and a Trump administration policy would leave them to suffer unnecessarily. Earlier this year, Trump’s State Department stopped issuing temporary medical-humanitarian visas to people in Gaza — reversing a long-standing policy that allowed a small number of people, many of them children, to access life-saving medical care in the United States. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the pause may be temporary, but that was months ago — and it’s time we made the political costs of this choice too hard to bear. Let’s take advantage of every second of this break in the violence and ensure everyone at State hears overwhelming support to reinstate this policy and help people access the life-saving medical care they need. 

For years, ICE has relied on local governments to make its operations easier, using city resources, property, and even police partnerships to detain and deport our neighbors. Mayor Johnson’s new executive order creates ICE-free zones by prohibiting federal immigration authorities from using city-owned property to stage or carry out ICE raids, including parking lots, garages, vacant lots, and Chicago Public Schools property. "Our school parking lots are not for ICE to load their weapons. They are for Chicago, who drop their kids off to learn," Johnson said. "Our libraries are not for ICE to prepare for a raid. They're for Chicagoans to read and relax. Our Parks are not for ICE to set up checkpoints. They're for Chicagoans to play and enjoy." Mayor Johnson’s order makes clear that city resources should serve residents, not federal immigration enforcement. Every city in America should be protecting immigrant families, not helping deport them.  Add your name to call on mayors across the country to follow Chicago’s lead and block ICE from using city property for immigration enforcement.

The White House’s militarization of Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, and Portland, and threats to deploy troops to other cities, are terrifying workers. The very people that help D.C. function — day care workers, construction workers, restaurant workers, home and health care workers, and so many others — are too afraid of the military checkpoints and masked ICE agent dragnets to make it to their jobs. During the weeks of military occupation in D.C., day care centers have had to partially or completely close because of a worker shortage — and at least one center suspended daytime walks because of worries that the children they look after might encounter armed troops on the streets. Traffic stops in D.C. of construction vehicles are leading to unexplained worker arrests and companies unsure what to do next. People in need of care in their homes — family elders and disabled folks — aren’t able to get the help they need because health care workers fear random military stops if they leave their homes. The massive ICE raid of a Hyundai and LG factory under construction in Georgia is another arm of this federal terror. DHS arrested hundreds of workers, imprisoning many mostly South Korean workers for a week and putting the future of the factory and the 8,500 jobs it could have created in jeopardy. If America’s largest corporations and their powerful CEOs don’t use their influence to protect workers, cities across the country may fall under military occupation and the utter state of fear felt by so many in D.C. Racial profiling in D.C. has surged during the troop deployment, as immigrant workers face outsized threats of arrest, imprisonment, and deportations. 40% of the arrests in D.C. have been immigration related. The fear imposed by the federal government has hurt the D.C. economy, threatened labor across the metro D.C. area, and halted important daily operations. The ICE raid in Georgia harmed workers at the Hyundai-LG site AND threatened future jobs. Is that what powerful CEOs and America’s largest corporations want to see replicated in city after city?   America’s Fortune 500 companies and all U.S. employers must use their power now to end the militarization of America. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth hauled hundreds of top generals to Quantico for what one Pentagon official called a “total waste of money.” Trump used the gathering to claim he’s fighting an “invasion from within” and affirm his intentions to use “cities as training grounds for our military.” With Hegseth heading the Pentagon, Trump’s got a dangerously powerful lackey to do his bidding.   We knew Pete Hegesth was unfit to serve during his nomination process, and every day since he’s only proved us right. Impeachment is how Congress can check an out-of-control official who is abusing his power, threatening our democracy, and harming communities here and abroad. We can’t stay silent. 

It is unacceptable for talent agencies to sign with AI entities instead of real actors. This is a dangerous precursor for what’s to come, and we have to intervene  The production company, Particle6, debuted Tilly Norwood in a video over the summer. In the comedy sketch, they feature someone saying, “She’ll do anything I say. I’m already in love.” That’s what these AI companies are selling: boring, compliant, artificial replicas of the real thing.  But good entertainment and art isn’t created by lines of code that don’t critically think or interact with the work they are a part of. It is created by and for real people—and that is true at every level of production. The controversy has sparked actors and labor unions to speak out against using generative AI to replace people in the industry. Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) released a statement saying that the AI character “creates the problem of using stolen performances to put actors out of work, jeopardizing performer livelihoods and devaluing human artistry.”  Add your name to the petition to demonstrate solidarity with actors and performers, and send a clear message to talent agencies that audiences DO NOT want them to sign with AI entities.

Upwards of 100,000 people attend the Super Bowl, and the event is supposed to be a celebration of football and its fans, powered by thousands of workers who make it possible. The Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco should not be marked by Trump’s mass chaos, trauma, and detention.  Bad Bunny and his team already made the difficult decision to not tour his latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos in the United States out of fear of ICE raids, and how they might use him and his concerts to kidnap and target his fans. But of course, the Trump administration is cruel, and doubled down by saying they’d have ICE at the Super Bowl. People on the ground in communities most impacted by Trump’s authoritarian militarized takeover are uniting to fight back, and doing everything they can to protect their neighbors and loved ones. Local elected officials like Alderwoman Jessie Fuentes are putting their bodies on the line to defend their constituents. Bad Bunny is an artist who has been very outspoken about injustice and has used his music and platform to advocate for our communities. He has also been vocally against Trump and his immigration policies, and in 2024, he spoke out against a speaker at Trump’s rally when he disgustingly called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.” He has been a fierce advocate for Puerto Rican rights and independence because Puerto Rico is a colony of the U.S. and the people of Puerto Rico have constantly been failed, especially by Trump, his administration, and its harmful policies. Eight years ago, Puerto Ricans were devastated by Hurricanes Maria and Irma, and families were displaced and abandoned, the entire island was left without power for 11 months (the longest blackout in US history), many were left without water, and thousands died from neglect from those in power. The people of Puerto Rico deserve better. Together, we can continue fighting for all of our communities and keeping each other safe, one step at a time. The NFL must take this step too, to stop ICE from targeting people at their Super Bowl. Will you add your name to the petition?

This case is being pushed by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), whose record of anti-LGBTQ+ activism includes supporting the criminalization of consensual LGBTQ+ relationships, defending state-sanctioned sterilization of transgender people abroad, fighting to ban books about LGBTQ+ people, blocking life-saving care for transgender people, and spreading hurtful falsehoods about LGBTQ+ communities. ADF’s extremist agenda would erase LGBTQ+ people from public life and gut vital protections for children and families. Conversion therapy is NOT medical care—it is abuse masquerading as treatment. Survivors routinely report lasting psychological damage, while scientific reviews and countless testimonies show that these “therapies” do not change anyone’s identity but do cause immense suffering.  No free speech claim or “voluntary practice” justifies allowing therapists to inflict grave harm on vulnerable kids. Colorado’s law, like those in other states, simply prohibits licensed professionals from using their role to push predetermined outcomes of denying a young person’s authentic self. It does not ban supportive counseling; it protects youth from dangerous, distressing, and disproven tactics. State power to regulate licensed healthcare exists to keep patients safe—not empower ideological crusades. 

Trump’s reckless tariff threats would make birth control more expensive and harder to access for millions of Americans. For low-income families and people already struggling with rising costs of living, this surge in the price of contraceptives could be devastating. And with limited domestic production, tariffs on imports could disrupt supply chains and put contraception out of reach for those who need it most. Lawmakers in Congress have the power to act by passing legislation to exempt contraceptives from Trump’s reckless tariffs and ensure access to affordable birth control is protected. Sign the petition demanding Congress exempt birth control and other essential medication from Trump’s tariffs and defend reproductive health care.
