The largest rollback in voting rights in over a century is now underway. A wave of restrictive laws passed in 13 states will mean that next year as many as 5 million Americans could find voting difficult, and even impossible. Shorter University, in Rome, GA , has announced it will require all faculty and staff to disclose their sexual preferences by signing a lifestyle pledge in which they will promise to not condone premarital sex, adultery, or homosexuality. The right to vote is fundamental. Without it, the true voice of the people cannot make their voices heard. The Republican-backed House Bill 108-88 that would require voters to show photo identification at the polls will SOON be voted on by the Senate. Republicans claim fraud as the reason for this bill. Their real aim is to make it difficult or impossible for elderly, black, Hispanic, youth, and our soldiers overseas, many of whom are Democrats and are less likely to have photo ID, to vote.
